Tulip Trails of Holland visits Keukenhof!
It’s great to be back to bike & barging again! Our adventurous group parked their bikes and strolled through the tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, orchids and more at Keukenhof Gardens. Check out some of those beauties here! 🌷 💐 🌷

Ride highlights Alphen aan den Rijn to Kudelstaart
We’re putting the finishing touches on our April 2 Tulip Trails of Holland departure as Stephanie makes friends all over Holland’s Green Heart. It’s not too late to jump on board!!!
Tuesday’s ride gets you up close and personal with friendly 2 legged and 4 legged creatures along the way. We’ll visit windmills and a family run dairy farm that sells milk on tap, cappuccinos and desserts made with milk that’s as fresh as it gets! The “tasting room” overlooks the cow barn. Now that’s our kind of coffee stop!

Anyone hungry? Not on our tours!
Check out the goodies on our recent tours in the Netherlands. No fancy photo shoots here, just delicious meals, captured on Stephanie's phone as they arrived at her table.

Finding your way on the bike paths (fietspad) of the Netherlands
The Netherlands has one of the best bike infrastructures in the world! Once you understand the Fietsroute Network (bike paths and bike lanes) with its series of Knooppunts (numbered intersections), you just need to keep your eyes open for the little posts that keep pointing you in the right direction! Of course, if you’d rather follow behind a pro, our tour guides are the best at leading scenic, interesting rides. They also know where the best bakeries are when it’s time for a coffee stop!
Guests eager to learn the sailing ropes
Trust me friends, I’m a much better tour director than camerawoman (or sailor!) but perhaps you’ll forgive me as I attempt to give you a glimpse (and a laugh) inside a bike and sail tour. Today we sailed on the Wadden Sea from Texel Island to Terschelling. It was a long and relaxing journey over calm seas. Anyone who wanted to pitch in could help raise the sails on this 5-sail schooner. Those who didn’t could curl up in a deck chair with a good book and a cappuccino from the ship’s self serve machine. 😀

Typical private bath of a guest cabin on a hotel barge or sailing ship
We only offer tours on ships with guest cabins that include a private bathroom. Here’s a peek inside a typical en suite.
Sleeping cabin on the Mare fan Fryslan

Arrival in Enkhuizen for a Bike & Sail tour
Travel along with me this week as I sail the Waddensee on the Mare fan Fryslan and bike throughout the Friesland province, with stops to explore an island or two. I’m excited to show you just how a bike and boat tour rolls and why it’s such an awesome way to travel!

Cycling in the Veluwe
Another gorgeous day for our ride through the forest, sand dunes and pastures of the Veluwe to Spakenburg. No wonder the Dutch have such a fondness for this region. We heard people all day long whisper, “Look, Americans!” Must be the bike helmets and bright cycling apparel this group is rocking!
Cheese farm visit with farmer Bert
We love to visit cheese farms on our Netherlands tours so we stopped in to meet Cheesefarmer Bert who, as the Dutch can always be counted on to do, gave us his honest opinion about the cheeses his family produces. Bonus when your cheesefarmer has a quick wit! “This is a young cheese, it’s not a very tasty cheese. I don’t really like it. A lot of people like young cheese and I think, what’s the matter with them?”
Well,. we loved his young cheese, “middle-aged” cheese, “old” cheese and the secret family cheese that he was sure we wouldn’t like! He has cute friendly goats too.
Cycling through the Hanseatic Cities of the Netherlands
We can’t stop talking about the fantastic weather we are enjoying on this week’s tour through the Hanseatic cities of the Netherlands. Today we rode through the Overijssel province, northeast of Amsterdam. We were treated to the exceptional bike paths that the Netherlands is known for. These ones took us through forests and farms, fields of heather in the Veluwe and quaint medieval cities not many Americans travel to. We’re moored in Kampen tonight and our guide took us on a nice walk to work off a delicious dinner.
