After 5 years, we returned to Finnmark for another Finnmarksvidda Crossing! "This was not an easy walk in the park!", as someone said. Starting from Øvre Stilla, it took us 5 days and 92 km to cross the plateau, Iesjavri Lake -the biggest lake of northern Scandinavia- and to end in Karasjok, the Norwegian Sami capital. But what a special area and trek! The landscapes and colors, the special (northern) light, the Sami herdsmen we met on the plateau, the traditional Statens Fjellstue we passed, the birds and animals we saw and the arrival & stay in Karasjok: a secret kept..... The weather was pretty unpredictable: we started with very warm weather but in a few days it turned into arctic conditions with a mix of sun, head wind and very low temperatures.... (down to -21oC). Grateful to be able to do this with a wonderful group of Kuling-fans: thanks to Fébe, Bally, Ron, Harmke, Emmeline and my dear Maaike for your commitment, flexibility and perseverance and making this an unforgettable week. Happy to guide this group together again with dear friend and co-guide Christoffer Stange, under the care and support of Solgunn Hesseberg, our Oslo contact base.
