Santa Claus in Rotterdam ✨🎅

Did you know that this unique artwork by Paul McCarthy was originally intended to depict Santa Claus holding a large Christmas tree? The sculpture symbolizes the commercial side of Christmas and how traditions can sometimes take on a life of their own.

During our Bike & Bite tour, we’ll tell you all about this striking piece of art and why it’s also known by another nickname. 😉 But you’ll have to join the tour to find out more!

Delft Blue: A Piece of Dutch Heritage ✨💙

Standing tall under the Dutch flag, the Laurenskerk in Rotterdam is a true symbol of the city's resilience. 🦾

This stunning Gothic church, one of the few historic buildings to survive the devastation of WWII, has witnessed Rotterdam’s transformation over the centuries.

While the church was heavily damaged during the 1940 bombing, it was carefully restored and now stands as a testament to Rotterdam’s enduring spirit and its rebirth after the war.

Rotterdam is known for its urban vibe and modern architecture. 🏙️ It’s one of the few cities in The Netherlands with so many impressive modern buildings. Among these towering structures, you’ll often find skate parks that perfectly match the city’s urban vibe. While you’re walking around, you can catch locals showing off their tricks in the skate parks.

Did you know that we have a never-ending discussion in The Netherlands? It all started with some fries... 🍟

When you go on a food tour through one of the cities, you will definetely score some amazing fries. But be carefull what you call them!

In Dutch, the fries are called 'friet' or 'patat'. Generally the north tends to call them 'patat' and the south says 'friet'. The problem is, both are correct! But we will just never accept that fact... 🙉

For all the Dutch people here, is it 'friet' or 'patat'?!

It’s the stunning Nieuwe Kerk in Delft! This beautiful church is not only a sight to see from the ground, but did you know you can also visit it from Monday to Saturday? 🚶‍♂️

And here's a tip: you can even climb the tower! ⛪

Trust us, the view over Delft from the top is 100% worth the climb.

This plaque belongs to a famous statue in Delft. Does anyone know where in Delft this statue is located?

The statue, unveiled in 2003 by former Queen Beatrix, is a tribute to Willem van Oranje, also known as Willem de Zwijger. “Zwijger” translates to “Silent” in English, reflecting his reserved nature and strategic silence, which helped him navigate the complex political landscape of his time. 🌟

Last week we talked about how licorice isn’t exactly a tourist favorite, but when it comes to kibbeling, it’s a whole different story!

This delicious fried fish, usually served with a tasty dip, is a huge hit.

Just be careful when you dig in – seagulls are quick to make friends, and they won’t hesitate to try and sneak a bite! 😅

Licorice. A true Dutch treat! Many tourists enjoy the sweet variety, but then there's salty licorice... and that’s often less of a hit. 😅

But hey, when in the Netherlands, why not give it a try? You might just surprise yourself.
