The 17th of May this year, the community of Calatabiano, Sicily, was emerged in the festivities surrounding their patron saint, San Filippo. The heavy wooden statue is carried down the mountain by the men of the village. Spectacle ensues, up to a point where the priest got run over by the group of men and broke both hips. Yesterday, working around Cuballino, one of our houses in the Alcantara Valley, a curious donkey decided to keep me company. Did you know you get 80€ a month from the Commune for each donkey you decide to keep? They want MORE DONKEYS in Sicily! :-) Here's some pics of my new friend.
