Centro Comunitario de Ecatepec 🤝 The Huracan Foundation 🤝 Away Days Football Travel 🤝 Lyle and Scott

In just a few days, we gained a new family—the Centro Comunitario family. Their team is doing an incredible job with so much passion, kindness, and love. They are doing everything within their power to give more than 150 Ecatepec kids a better and more sustainable future by providing education, sports, social development, and community involvement.

These kids, especially the girls, have so little and are growing up in one of the most dangerous areas of Mexico. On a daily basis, they cope with violence, abuse, shootings, drugs, terrible living conditions, and poor educational opportunities. Without Centro Comunitario, these kids would be abandoned by society, with almost no chances to participate, lead, or achieve their own goals and dreams.

In just a few days, the team and the girls showed us so much hospitality and love that we felt like part of the family for years already. They made us feel special. Though they have so little, they give so much. We were able to participate in the classes, and they even organized a special family and football day—an unforgettable experience.

We are grateful for their hospitality and happy to support Centro Comunitario in various ways. We would like to thank Lyle & Scott in particular for donating football kits, which the kids wear with pride. But we also recognize that these kids need all the help they can get, and we will continue supporting them through Centro Comunitario and The Huracan Foundation. We will definitely return in the near future to be back with the family.

INK projeto 🤝 Away Days Football Travel 🤝 De Feijenoorder

Last year we visited Rio de Janeiro to meet with Fabio, the initiator of the INK Football Street Project. With very limited resources he and his team work very hard to give the kids of the Chapadao Favela a sustainable future with football as the catalyst. The kids receive much more than the possibility to play football. They receive education (English lessons for example) as going to school is for most of the kids not possible. They work on social skills, discipline and reaching goals. They provide food, breakfast for example, to have a nutritious start of the day.

Fabio told me that all of these kids have a dream. To be able to get out of the Favela one day and build a future, become a professional footballer for example. To symbolize this dream, Fabio wished these kids could play in a Feyenoord-jersey for example. Players like Igor Paixao are an example for these kids.

So we contacted the De Feijenoorder, the supporters association of Feyenoord, if they could help with this wish. We organized an initiative with the business club of De Feijenoorder for people to donate a Feyenoord-kit. A great success! We were able to bring a full sports bag of brand new kits to Chapadao to surprise the kids. The happiness of the kids was mind-blowing. Special thanks also to our friend Gary Scott for donating many Celtic tops and clothes. Kids really loved it.

The hospitality of INK and the love of the kids was more than amazing. We admire these people, but also understand they still have a long way to go. So we will do everything within our power to keep supporting this project and hopefully receive more help from football clubs, supporters associations and companies as these kids need better facilities, materials, educational supplies etc.

En zo ronden we wederom een waanzinnige Vamos Argentina trip af! Althans, voor de eerste groep.

De afgelopen 11 dagen bezochten we 11 wedstrijden, deden we 2 ontzettend toffe tours en genoten we onwijs van de Argentijnse (voetbal)cultuur en het heerlijke eten.

Reizigers bedankt! Absoluut eentje voor in de boeken!
