Oh well, just a couple of travellers from 🇲🇽and 🇺🇸who started out as strangers, sipping on some delish “Corenwijn” (grain wine) together, and then ending up exchanging digits halfway through the tour and meeting for a two-day reunion/afterparty over the weekend.

We love connecting our guests and new friends from all over the world! ❤️

In fact, if we could, we’d call what we do a friendship experience — with great beers, snacks and stories. Like speed dating, but less frantic and more fabulous (and delicious).

Here’s a real one from our lovely guest, Dilara. Thanks for sharing. ❤️

"My dream is always to be just completely free. I have a Turkish background where freedom is not necessarily a thing if you live in a social community. And my parents are immigrants, so it's always been a very family-based, and expectations that people have of you, and you're living as an immigrant in a different country, so people always have expectations and stigma and everything that comes with it. And the ADHD as well... There's just so much judgement. I realised that in my 28 years of life, I've been so stuck with what people think of me, what I should be doing, where I should be going, that I'm taking this path now where I want to do what I want. It's my path and just to be free from other people and their opinions. Maybe for other people, it's very easy. But maybe, I don't know, maybe with the ADHD as well, I just feel it's so difficult with the judgement and everything. So I'm on that path and that's my dream. That's what I'm working towards at this moment."

Sometimes, you come across a gem that you just wanna keep it all to yourself.

Thats for us.

Thanks to a gloriously rainy afternoon, we ducked for cover in the corner of De Jordaan. To our delight, we realized that restaurant Mantoe had turned into something else serving the stuff that made our heads spin and hearts beat a little faster, all the way to Louisiana Lalaland💗

Po’ Boy. (And lots of other classic Cajun fare.) 🤤

This sandwich had been on our “eat list” forever since ’s No Reservations era. We walked in, said hi to co-owner Logan, inhaled all that crazy delicious gumbo smells he was cooking up, and promised we’d be back.

Not long after, a solo visit saw us connecting with the other half of , Jenifer herself. It was an experience to remember. The warmth, hospitality, top-notch food and gezelligheid took us back to a time where things were a little simpler, people talked, food was good the way it was. No edible flowers and foam, avocado origami, and whatever crap people put to make their dishes appeal to hipsters. We loved it so much that we brought our buddies a few weeks later. A soon-to-be tradition.

As much as we hate to spill some secrets, it’d be remiss of us to not give this one the ⚡️and spotlight it deserves. The only thing is, they only serve brews by . But they have some delicious cocktails (Bloody Mary was 👌) to wash down all the goodness too. Don’t think, just go.

It’s never just been about the beers we drink. To us, it’s the people we meet and the stories we share that bring it home.

Beer is a social lubricant. But stories connect people. ❤️

Recently, we’ve been inspired by ’s fabulous Game of Stories (now available in the Netherlands! 🙌) and printed some new cards with more thought-provoking questions. (Instead of our usual suspects like “Tell us your most epic drunken story!”) Think or but boozier. 🍻

We’ve decided to share the stories of our guests with you.

"I've always wanted to travel to every single country. Or every single recognized autonomous nation in the world, to be more specific. I've always felt like I didn't belong where I grew up. Everybody was... I just felt like it was different for me. And so I wanted to see what the rest of the world would be like, to maybe, kinda find a click that I can, you know, be with forever. But then, as I started traveling more, I realized more that you can make friends along the way and it can be fun friends you can always click with, but for me specifically, I need to keep moving and I need to keep growing. And I think that's how I continue to find happiness and develop as a person, it's by living a nomadic life. So before this (recording), we had a conversation about what expectations are of you, of a certain age, or what you should be doing in that part of life. I think being a nomad in a more modern world is what I wanna do. It's kind of my own personal calling. I wanna see as much of the world as possible."
