Cycling in the Lopikerwaard on a Saturday you may come across a match of polstokverspringen. A discipline started as a means for farmhands to cross ditches get to their cows. But eventually in the 18th century became a serious sport in Friesland and the Lopikerwaard. The record stands at 20.25. And it's not an easy sport.

We had some stormy weather yesterday.

Het waait hard in Utrecht. Code Oranje trekt over het land en dat zorgt hier en daar voor overlast. Zo ook op het drukste fietspad van Nederland bij TivoliVredenburg. Vele fietsers en voetgangers komen amper vooruit of vallen van hun fiets. Foto’s: Robert Oosterbroek
