Good afternoon. My name is Geir and I will take over Visit Flekkefjord’s profile this week.
I live in Kristiansand but My family has roots in Flekkefjord, to be more precise, on the Wonderful island Hidra. All my photos will be from there. I start with an evening picture of the charming little village Kirkehamn.

Stolsåta, one of my all time favourite hikes. Great view of Stolsfjord, Andabeløy and Hidra. From Bjelland the hike is 5km one way. And there is several trails leading to both Unhammer and Ståby.

Gården Li (the farm Li), a tourist cabin available for rent. Live life like the old days, away from all distractions of everyday life. The farm lies in a protected part of Flekkefjord, close to the sea and Hidra. There are kayaks at your disposal and also a small Via Ferrata along the shore.

People lived and worked on the farm to the mid 1900s, the main house is authentic to that era, the barn house is renovated to work as a tourist cabin with bunkbeds and common room/kitchen. There is also a small cabin by the sea called Dåtten available for rent.

This is one of my "go to" places, both for voluntary work (chopping wood, fixing things, mowing grass etc), and for relaxing with family and friends.
Kids love to explore trees and "caves", or just running around having fun.

Today is the annual Salmon Festival. People meet and eat salmon dishes in different ways. It’s a buzzing city with various events throughout the whole day.

Take a stroll along the seaside in Flekkefjord. You will probably see a kayaker or someone who are enjoying a boat trip. You will also most likely have a nice meal at one of the restaurants here.

The pebble beach and Brufjellhålene are a popular tourist destination close to Flekkefjord. The caves are most likely made by the sea and pebbles before the mountain rose after the last ice age.

There is a lot of street art in Flekkefjord. In «Seilet» in Øvre Park you will find Flekkefjord municipality’s flower foxglove made by artist Terje Andersen 🌸

Grønnes is the nearest beach to Flekkefjord. Here you can enjoy beachlife by playing volleyball, swimming or jumping from the 10-meter diving tower 💦

Around Søylandstjernet, right outside the city-center, there is a dementia-friendly hiking trail. The hiking trail is much used by the people of Flekkefjord.

The good life in Flekkefjord.

Whether you like to be in a boat or like to walk, there are a number of opportunities throughout the municipality. A short distance from the city center there are nice places where you can swim, enjoy food brought with you, fish and for the children to play. The most popular areas are Grønnes, Wahlsodden and Raulibukta.

If you like being in a boat, there are many great places to go ashore, the islands of Torsøy, 10 minutes from the city centre, being among the most popular.

The municipality's largest islands Andabeløy and Hidra have many paths and outdoor facilities. The ferries to both islands are also free.

In addition to walking, there are many opportunities such as taking a dressage ride on the local railway. The local tourist association has also created great hiking trails throughout the municipality.

So the opportunities for nice nature experiences are great in beautiful Flekkefjord.

So my week in Visitflekkefjord was over for this time. Through pictures and text, I have shown a bit of everything Flekkefjord Municipality has to offer. In the coming weeks, several people connected to Flekkefjord will share their photos and stories from the municipality.

Outside the town's church, Anette from Bryne and Kurt from Kristiansand sat on a bench. They visited the city for a couple of days. They like to walk so they had gone for a walk to one of the municipality's most beautiful mountain peaks: Søylandsvarden. They stayed at the Grand Hotell among the city's older buildings. On Saturday, they did like many others: sat on a bench and enjoyed the summer town of Flekkefjord.

It is not difficult to find all the qualities that make Flekkefjord a good municipality to live in.

We have a long history where the sea has meant a lot. It has created many jobs. This is also the case today. With over 200 teams and associations, we have a rich cultural life. We have many small places, each of which has its own qualities.

We have a varied industry with large and small companies. Over the years, skilled business owners have managed to make the changes that new times require.

The wooden buildings in Hollenderbyen are from a time when we had strong ties to the Netherlands. The municipality is under development. We see that not least in all construction activity.

Flekkefjord is still a small town in the Norwegian context. The strength of it is that everything becomes so close. Not least this applies to good health care and the cohesion of the local population.
