I just finished my first trip with the Svalbard Express MS Trollfjord, and must say it's pretty mindblowing how diverse the landscapes and climates of this country is! From the South where I'm from to the northernmost settlements in the World in Ny-Ålesund, you can have summer and winter in the same week! Tomorrow I'm off to Scotland, for a cruise around the Scottish Isles, and am excited for new adventures with Hurtigruten!

Do'an Valley
I was not prepared for this. Never had I thought we'd arrive at a place where we would be staying at a boutique hotel with an infinity pool overlooking a canyon. In Yemen.
Hiking down, we arrived into tiny villages, with houses made from mud, that looked more like gingerbread houses than anything else..
Our experiences on this trip has just blown through all expectations. Hadramout is a region open for tourism, and has easily climbed up to become my favourite area to travel out of all of the Arabian Peninsula. Come join the next trip here, which will be mid November this year!

Al Mukallah, in the Hadramout Region in Yemen. So much more than you'd expect.
I somewhat thought it would be tense. Yemen ranks as the 8th in the world on national GDP per capita, and that's not on the top list. Yet, throughout my journey in the Hadramout Region I've felt relaxed and safe, and I've seen/heard nothing of what I'd read about in the news.
This does not of course imply that Yemen is a completely safe country to travel to, and in fact, the North of the country where the capital is located is full of struggle, and this part is also completely off limits to travelers.

What I want to say is, that there are also areas where life goes on as normal. Where people go on with their daily lives. Doing work, going to school, having their soccer practices, doing picnics etc etc. It's important to know that both of these realities exist, and if you want to see this for yourself you can go there too. The same goes for Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran etc which I'll also run trips to this year.
So, Yallah, what are you waiting for? The next trip to Socotra and Hadramout will be in November. Socotra on November 4th-11th and mainland Yemen November 11th-18th. 💫

It's not a plane, it's not a helicopter; it's a gyrocopter!!
Flying over Socotra at 120km an hour. First a few hundred meters above ground and then just a few meters above water- flying a gyrocopter was a thrilling experience. Every gust of wind, every move the aircraft makes, you can be sure to feel a twist in the stomach 😁

Coron+El Nido. Some seriously nice landscapes and beaches. I ended up spending ten days on these two places and could have easily spent much more! Its not often I feel that way about holiday/beach destinations, and I guess it also has to do with the people you meet and the mindset you go with, but to me this place was special ❤️ Would it be the same if I returned? Who knows🤷‍♂️😊

Meet the traveler on a quest to visit the world’s 201 countries by the age of 30

Meet Jørn Bjørn

I am writing these lines from a remote area in Southern Ethiopia called the Omo Valley, home to a number of ancient tribes whose unique diversity is studied by anthropologists to this very day.

Last week I was lucky enough to experience a pre-wedding “bull-jumping ceremony” (Ukuli Bula) conducted by the Hamar tribe. This ancient right-of-passage ceremony involves grooms-to-be proving their courage by jumping naked over bulls while brides-to-be are whipped on their backs to show just how far they would go for love. As the naked men bravely leap from one bull’s back to another, the women look euphoric, as blood showers down their backs. Quite a powerful thing to witness!

Comment: it is actually the friends and family of the groom who gets whipped to prove themselves for the bride
