Promised stories.
Let's start with the "lighter" one. Yesterday and the day before, I gave a tour to the oldest tourist and his wife in my work history. When talking about Norway's card system during the occupation, I said that I doubted they knew what it was. I didn't expect they had it in the States. Well, they did and they remember it. Do you know the last time the United States had a card system? World War II. Yes, my camper was old enough to remember it and he was ~10 years old and today he is 91 years old(!) Can you imagine the man! He doesn't live out his days in a nursing home, but leads an active lifestyle. In two days we made up 6 hours of sightseeing. The last time he was in Oslo was in 1958. To make you realize how long ago it was I will give some examples. In the USSR times of Khrushchev, a year before the USSR launched a sputnik and Gagarin had not yet flown into space. By chance, we talked about birthdays and what struck me was that my tourist had the same name as my Shlomo and they were both born on the same day, only 81 years apart!
I love my job. Where else can you get such a boost of emotion!
