The postal flag is a split flag with a white rectangle in the middle - with a royal crown and the word POST in yellow.

For ships in port, the postal flag is raised as soon as the mail has arrived on board.
When the ship leaves the quay, the postal flag remains hoisted until the outer harbor boundary is passed or until dark.
On arrival, the postal flag is raised at the outer port border or as soon as it becomes light if this occurs later.

The Norwegian government proposed a flag with a postal horn, while the government of King Carl Johan decided on a royal crown and the word "Post". The postal horn had to give way, because at the same time a separate customs flag and a flag for the Norwegian Customs Service were designed.

One of the nice things about Havila Pollux is that you are able to go outside and walk around almost the entire ship. Usually there is no possibility to go outside front of a ship, but prepare yourself for some windy conditions!
