You have to experience two things when your are in Norway: Brown cheese & cheese slicer! 🇳🇴

Have you ever tried Brown cheese? This sweet, rich cheese with a hint of caramel has a special place in Norwegian food tradition and is a favorite topping for many Norwegians. It's not just cheese; it's a culinary experience that melts in your mouth with every bite. 😋 You can find it in all grocery stores in Norway.

On picture number two you see the iconic Norwegian cheese slicer! 📸 Every Norwegian home probably has at least one of these, ready to slice perfect slices of brown cheese for guests to enjoy. AND its of course a Norwegian invention.

Flowers and butterflies, we love them both. But let's focus on this floral beauty today. 🌸🦋

🌸 Moss Campion, also known as Silene acaulis, is a well-known and common wildflower in Norway.
Typically found in the mountains or higher elevations, these flowers are perennials, meaning they bloom year after year.
They feature pink or violet blossoms shaped like small stars and grow densely, resembling a moss that blankets the rocks.

Join Nicole and Ioannis for a day as Fjord Rangers on one of our winter cruises. They are eager and happy to share their knowledge with all the visitors. Happy trip 🤠

🌸 Nicole prepares to greet curious guests with her cheerful enthusiasm.

❗️🎤 Ioannis begins the winter cruise by covering the most important security and practical information.

🏞🎤 Nicole's storytelling on the top deck fits perfectly as the boat cruises between mountains and fjords. What an experience!

🌊 Here, we are all fascinated by a frozen waterfall, also known as the suitor.

🏔 After everyone has arrived, the waterfall walk in Geiranger proves to be a wonderful experience. You quickly warm up as you tackle the 326 steps 😜

🦦🦫 Back on the boat we have Ioannis , talking about something he is passionate about: biodiversity. He loves to share his knowledge !!

🧁 What a day! On the way back to Ålesund, you have the opportunity to enjoy something sweet while reflecting on the beautiful moments you've experienced through Nicole and Ioannis's stories.

On April 7, 1934, a significant landslide occurred from the Langhammeren mountain, releasing approximately 2-3 million cubic meters of rocks into the fjord (figure 1).
This landslide triggered a tsunami that affected mostly the villages of Tafjord and Fjøra. The waves reached heights of up to 65 meters in Tafjord and 13-15 meters in Fjøra (figure 2).

The impact of the waves caused substantial damage to the communities, resulting in numerous human tragedies (figure 3).
Today marks the 90th anniversary of the accident.

Our landscape, shaped by powerful glaciers, stands as one of the planet’s most recently formed terrains. However, this dramatic landscape can become quite unstable, experiencing numerous rockslides and avalanches over the last 10,000 years in our area.

🦅🦅 White-tailed eagle 🦅! It is Norway's largest bird of prey, and one of our birds with the largest wingspan.

When you see the white-tailed eagle flying over your head, it will be an amazing experience, that you will remember for a long time.

Through the winter season you can see them flying lower than normal, because they are searching for food.

The white-tailed eagle is a species of bird in the hawk family. 🦅

Today, we have one of our winter cruises from Ålesund to Geiranger. We're curious about the experiences our guests will encounter, perhaps spotting an eagle flying low over Geirangerfjord or hearing a funny story from one of the Fjord Rangers? 🦅🤠 Who knows? 😅 We'll circle back to that later. 🤠😅

We're incredibly pleased with the winter cruise season so far, and truly humbled by the positive feedback we've received from our guests. 😍

Have you seen the photos? Notice how the mountains reflect in the fjord? It's incredibly relaxing, isn't it? Fun fact: the reflection of smooth surfaces like mirrors or calm bodies of water is known as specular reflection! 🧐🤔 Doesn't it look stunning in the pictures?
