I’m truly honored to be featured in the Christmas issue of the French Magazine Le Bruit Qui Court! Sharing my story and my connection to the Arctic, to Vadsø, and to the Northern Lights means so much to me.

Vadsø, this special place in the heart of Norwegian Lapland (and in mine 😉), has been central to this journey. Its breathtaking landscapes, unique rhythm of life, and incredible people - who continue to make this corner of the world feel like home - never stop inspiring me.

If you’d like, you can read the full article (in French) in issue #47 of Le Bruit Qui Court here 👉 https://online.fliphtml5.com/kwjd/mylq/ =28

I’ve also done my best to translate the article into English - check out the post's gallery to read it.

Enjoy 😊💚 And thank you again, Le Bruit Qui Court!

⚠️ 20 million (!) users ⚠️

Due to the severe geomagnetic storm last night, which continued from the night before, my Aurora Forecast app has experienced an overwhelmingly huge number of connections, which initially led to the need of its users to pass a security challenge, as the domain was automatically set to Protected mode by Cloudflare. Later, due to the even larger number of connections, the app has exceeded its capability to display and send Aurora sighting reports. I sincerely apologize for these inconveniences. Never did I imagine that Aurora Labs would reach a point where there will be a demand for increased server capabilities!

Well, this point has come! And I am really glad!

Even if it was virtually, I was right there with all of you last night, doing my utmost to keep the server running smoothly so the app could deliver. Unfortunately, the situation spiraled beyond my control at some point. Again, sorry!

To actually have a feel of the scale of events, did you know that the Aurora sightings in Southern Europe actually competed with the Eurovision Song Contest last night - a huge, iconic event in Europe? My app and website analytic reports show that Aurora Labs was accessed by more than 20 million (!) people only last night! Taking these numbers into account, it's astounding to think that we, the Aurora enthusiasts, inadvertently found ourselves in competition with... well... with Eurovision!

I sincerely hope that you had the opportunity to witness the beauty of the Aurora one of these two nights, no matter where you were located! Especially if witnessing this magnificent phenomenon was a dream of yours. And if, by chance, my app played a role in helping you fulfill this dream, then I couldn't be happier!

Finally, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude: your overwhelming interest and trust in Aurora Labs have made my app an essential tool for Aurora enthusiasts worldwide. Your collective support has not only validated my passion but also transformed my dream of making a mark in the Aurora field into a reality. Thank you for making this journey so incredible!

Happy Aurora hunting,

Sergiu from Aurora Labs

⚠️ Breaking news ⚠️

Hey everyone!

For the second night running, we're in the midst of some seriously powerful geomagnetic activity! As many of you have noticed, the Aurora Forecast app has been buzzing with reports, both successful and unsuccessful, of aurora sightings.

In response to this overwhelming surge in traffic, the app has automatically activated its protection mode. This means that for every new IP accessing the app, you'll need to tackle a quick Cloudflare challenge before diving into the dashboard. Don't worry, it's just a one-time thing! After that, you'll just need to confirm your humanity every few minutes. 😉

I've never seen such an overwhelmingly huge activity on the app before! Right now, I'm working to ease up on the protection measures for tonight exceptionally, so everyone can enjoy the Aurora without any hassle.

Thanks to each and every one of you for your unwavering support and trust in the app. I wish you happy Aurora hunting, wherever you are in the world! 🌍

Warm regards,
Sergiu

Have you seen the Aurora last night?

Multiple CMEs erupted from the Sun, which caused a G5 severe geomagnetic storm, which is still currently in progress. The Aurora has been reported in my Aurora Forecast app from thousands of locations, as far south as Lyon in France! On the North American continent, it might still be possible to witness it, on the still-dark Western side, where skies are clear. Maybe from the Sothern tip of New Zealand as well.

Thank you for your ongoing support and trust in using my Aurora Forecast app!

Happy Aurora hunting,

Sergiu

Have you ever tasted cloudberries? 🍓🫐

Berry picking is a popular activity in Vadsø, and the neighbouring region. The town is surrounded by areas which provide ideal conditions for various types of berries to grow. Among them, cloudberries are one of the most sought-after by locals and visitors alike, as it is a typical berry growing in Nordic countries. Cloudberries are yellow-orange berries that resemble raspberries, but have a distinct sweet flavor. They are rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, and are used to make jams, juices, liqueurs, and desserts.

Even if it's summer, and the Midnight Sun is 24/7 in the sky here in Vadsø, that doesn't mean we can (always) wear our shorts and T-shirts! Sometimes we do need our jackets and even a hat or a hoodie to cover our heads from the - sometimes - cold and strong winds! So make sure you don't forget to pack these if you're planning us a visit during summer 😉
