Hallo dear Friends and vistiors. It was a while since we had posted and it's time to post again.
The Aurora season 23/24 has begun and already the 13th and 14th of Septemeber 2023 were good light shows. Here I am sharing with you some of the photos of the previous tours..😍🔥

The 4 the of October was competing with the night before. Difficult to judge who won but there is at least two winners. 🏆

Very nice and easygoing group.
An elderly gentleman that was traveling to Alaska and Iceland before got very lucky and happy to experience that light show in Tromsø 🌌🌠🌌🌠🌌

The 3rd if October turned to be a very special night.
The weather turned to much better and the lights were very colorful 🎨❤️💛💚💙

We got a successful Mexican proposal 🇲🇽 and very romantic and emotional Bollywood moments. ❤️

Four hours of waiting in freezing temperatures and very low light activity was really not easy. ❄❄❄🌬🌬🌬

Few of us were thinking about to give up and go home. But while we were trying to convince them of staying little bit longer, popped it up in the sky out of nowhere. Strong and beautiful. Suddenly was nobody tired or cold anymore.😍💥🔥🔥🔥

We got around five minutes with those amazing lights and ten was everything gone again. But were satisfied and the dreams of our guests came true. This is that is all about. 🥰🥰🥰

We even had a young man who proposed to his girlfriend 💞who was surprised and then answered with tears in her eyes "YES I WILL".

After 5 hours driving, stacking in the snow and pushing the car, and freezing cold by minus 14 degrees, driving in and out of Finland again, were the passion of the guide and the patient of the guests rewarded by a VERY strong tri-color aurora (actually on the way back home). 🤩🤩🤩❄❄❄💥💥💥

On 16th Nov was the weather as bad as you can imagine. Most of the tours were cancelled of course "because of the weather". We discovered a smal chance but informed the guests that the chances were from very little to nothing. After a long and tough drive of about 2,5 hours we had to wait very patiently before we were rewarded with the aurora suddenly and "out of no where". And a clear sky where the weather forecast was reporting 100% cloudy.
There is no real weather forecast for Northern Norway

On 14th Nov was the weather forecast was bad, cloud coverage was given as 100%. Only minimal chances of 2-3% was reported for a short time of less than one hour.
The group got offered to get refund or to try, NO ONE wanted refund, EVERYONE wanted try. Bravo😎

We drove around two hours and found a good sky deep in the forest. cold was feeling like minus five but the worst was the wind around 18m/sec 🌬🌬🌬 and cold of course.❄️❄️❄️

We were lucky and had a beautiful clear gap above our heads for around 2 hours that showcased many beautiful and very active auroras.

Our guests were rewarded for their courage.

The weather was crazy the whole night and it almost didn't stop snowing. The white lines at top of the images are falling snowflaks. But we were lucky with a beautiful gap in front of us that we easily could experience the beauty of aurora borealis. 💥💥💥😁😁😁😁

The weather was showing only half an hour opening in the sky and snow along with strong wind all the night. We arrived the spot but the clear sky that supposed to be at that spot was expected noe to another area. The new area was beautiful but was in the heart of a plain area, and we were exposed to the strong wind without shelter. We used the car to block the strongest side of the wind.
The guests were tough and the mood was not low at all.
We enjoyed the arctic conditions and were awarded by beautiful clear sky and even more beautiful northern lights. The weather forecast was telling about 30 min opening in the sky but we had non-stop clear sky for about 2,5 hours. 💥💥💥😁😁😁😁

On the 5th Nov we didn't need to drive to the destination at all because we were surprised by a beautiful gap and strong lights on the way. We stayed and enjoyed it. 😁💥💥💥

When the weather changes to the worse and you can't trust the weather forecast anymore because where the weather forecast showing clear sky, there are clouds and not a single star to spot. 😏
Then you have to use your network of guides and start chasing it without any tools, only following your experience and instinct. A big piece of luck made it a very special night. 😁💥💥💥

Like so many times chasing the aurora we are surprised by weather changes. This time was it a very positive change, both the location and the light activity. 💥💥💥😁

February 18th was a cold night with a crystal clear sky. But aurora didn't want to appear earlier than 9:30 pm. It startet weak but later on had some beautiful outburst.💥🦌🌟😍

On the 6th of Feb. the sky was mostly cloudy despite some smaller and bigger openings that were coming and going but it was snowing all the time.
Our group was very easygoing since they were close friends. At the end we were finished and back in the warm running car and I had to ask them come out again to enjoy the lights that was stronger that alle the ones we had the whole night. They went back in the car happy to warm up and leave for Tromsø. BUT I called them back out of the car this time for something not less important than the northern lights and this was a group of reindeer was on their way down from the mountain. The come closer and closer so that we almost could touch them.

On the 3rd of Feb. was it non stop snowing in the Tromsø region so that our expectations were accordingly in beforehand. Then later on that afternoon was reported some gaps over Blåmannsvika for around two hours. Later was it reported suddenly increasing in the expected light activity. And it was really so.
And the reality on the ground was above the reported gaps and beyond all our expectations. Totally clear sky and a light show for more than two hours.

This night was definitely the strongest aurora night so far this winter. The Aurora forecast was given as KP 3 for this night but it turned to be the strongest night this year.🤩💪😀
The light activity was visible in Tromsø very early already from 17:15. When we arrived our spot the lights were already there. The stronger lights were coming and going whilst several decent activity were there all the time in addition of the activity in the background.
The aurora app was showing a "red sone" appearing and coming closer. And really suddenly it burst out in all its colors and magical dances. 💥💥
The factor that made this night so special was the number of extremely strong and extremely moving and very colorful outbursts of lights. The whole sky was literally full of lights. from the north eastern horizon to the south western horizon green over green. And what unique outbursts!!! Covered in all colors of a rainbow. 🌈⭐️🌟Moving so quick that I barely remember an aurora like this.
The moon light (12 nights strong) was forgotten and forsaken.🌝🌚

This night was given a forecast of 99% clouds in the whole region. I offered to my guests to change the date but they (as so often) were leaving Tromsø the following day. They spent four days with bad weather and decided to join our tour on the very last night.
I told them let's make the best out of it. 💯
The guests were positive and we injected the group with more optimism.🤩😃
The tour started and we could spot stars already on our first stop. But the lights activity was both very low (KP 1,1) and many thousands of kilometers far away, in the middle of Russia even at 21:30.
In the following stop we had more stars and even a good clear gap over our heads. We could spot some lights very low in the horizon through the tiny gaps in the clouds.
We had to move to the next spot where we could find even better sky. We could see the activity behind the low clouds that were covering the aurora like fog. The fog didn't want to move.
Close to midnight the guests expressed their wish to finish and move back to Tromsø. I agreed with them on more 30 min waiting and we will move back.🥶🙁

00:15 was still nothing and we killed the camp fire, guests took off the thermal suits and were sitting in the car.
While I was putting the stuff back in the car, I saw that the foggy low clouds are almost disappearing and I could see the appearance of the aurora behind it more and more clear.

I told it to my guests who didn't want to really believe it because you know, tired and cold. ❄️❄️❄️

But it was getting more and more real. This was the main reason why they came to Tromsø. Then no excuses and jump out again in the cold to experience this beautiful phenomenon. Lough and happiness over the faces, and mobile phones taken toward the aurora to try to capture it.

I had to take the pics of the guests as well so they had to pose and stand still which was not very easy if you are excited and cold at the same time. You can believe me that we really had repeat many times to get one picture that was without movement. My guests heard me many times saying "don't move!"

We came back to Tromsø, for me once more time that there is no "no chances for tonight" for chasing aurora. And as far as for my guests a cold and long chasing in the arctic night and landscape that was at the end successful and the best gift that my guests did to themselves.❄️😍🤩👍

Once more time that our hope became reality. We had one guest who has tried it three times before. On her fourth attempt was she finally lucky.🦁
We had also the well traveled Mr. Layon as our mascot on our tour.
Very nice group of guests who made together our group enjoyable💥🌟🌟😁

When you take a choice on a windy, snowy and rainy day with very low chances in a small area, then you feel very lucky that the weather changed in your favor beyond that you were hoping.
You basically need lucky mascots as well. I had three of the last night on my chase and the result is more than obvious.😁💥💥🌟

This night was a special one where I was honored to guide a very special, multilingual, multinational multi talented couple. Each highly academical educated and recognized in their own field. We talked about principles of philosophy, ideologies and creation switching between English, German and Norwegian without thinking about that very much.
If Emmanuel Kant was with us this night he would probably modify his famous speech like this 😉:
"Zwei Dinge erfüllen das Gemüt mit immer mehr und zunehmender Bewunderung und Ehrfurcht je öfter und anhaltender sich das Nachdenken damit beschäftigt, der bestirnte (Aurora-)Himmel über mir und moraliche (Grillwürstchen-)Gesetz in mir...."

2021 started strong but was holding on low gear until the 6th and 7th of Jan. KP index 5 and 4. We informed the guests and rescheduled them on the day with KP 5 and clear sky and this was the result. 💥💥💥😁

New Year's Eve started with a natural fire work in the sky of Kvaløya north west of Tromsø.
We manged to get back in Tromsø early enough to see the fire work in Tromsø as well. This night was a complete success in all means for our guests.

A night like few others before.😍
In the beginning of the night stood the moon higher in the sky and was brightening up the background in the sky and even the aurora. You know it when the sky appears bright blue and the aurora bright green. Later then was the moon standing much lower in the horizon so that the light of it could not brighten up the sky and the color of northern lights and background in the sky are appearing darker. 🌙💥

It is not rare that we chase the lights for more than7 hours and experience them for only minutes. This time was it like this when the sky is clear the lights are not showing up. And when the lights start showing up, thick clouds and fog 😲 (every guides nightmare) racing each other in placing themselves in front of aurora. Enjoyed the company of this nice group.

This time we went out with an expectation for clear sky that remained the whole night. But a light activity of level KP2 turned out to be a totally different dimension. Good for guests. 💥💥💥🌈🌈
By the way one of our guests had tried it three times before and was lucky to see it all three times, first on Iceland, then i Kiruna Sweden and finally here in Tromsø. But in Kiruna and specially in Tromsø the lights were much stronger. A lucky mascott. 😁

Our very nice guests Gintautas Biliunas and his wife stayed for few days in Tromsø. The weather was not good at all. On their last night they booked us. The weather forecast was showing 20% clear sky only short time around 9 pm. I informed them that the weather tomorrow is reported much better, but they told they will tomorrow. Ok lets do the best out of this snowy and cloudy night. Driving through the snow showers, sitting around the camp fire at the final location wile it is snowing like crazy. At our location was it snowing more than on the ground because we were staying around 250m higher than the sea level.🌨❄️❄️❄️🌨
Our guests started doubting in the chances for tonight at all and wanted to leave. We agreed to wait 30 more minutes. And really few minutes later we spottet the first clear stars that got slowly bigger. The lights started to appear and at the end our horizon got pretty clear and a really strong and colorful show began. We were able to experience an amazing aurora that was moving, dancing and with different colors.🌟✨💥💥

The 7th of Dec was a really crazy night when it comes to changing of weather and light activity.
The weather was changing every 20min, and we had to adapt the new situation. We didn't give up, driving and changing the location continuously. At the end the sky startet to clear pretty good but the lights were very weak. It came little bit stronger for around 5min. We arrived back home in Tromsø after totally 8,5 hours. I am happy I had such patient guests, Abid Aziz.😊👍❄

Pedro Moh asked me to participate in an aurora tour tour but the weather was not promising good chances. He said he will try it no matter chances because he only had this one night in Tromsø. We agreed on a private tour and started chasing aurora under very bad condtions. We found places where we only experienced aurora through a thinn layer of clouds. Then we changed to a small spott which suddenly was reported expecting a gap. And really we experienced not only the gap but at the same time a very strong light activity just where we had the gap. The activity was so strong that you can even see the reflection on the snow.
Pedro is a very positiv and optimistic person.

Our tour on 19.11.20 went to the finish border. Exactly staying behind the borderline because we were not allowed to cross the border to Finland. Covid 19.
We stayed until midnight and experienced very low activity the whole night. Then we went back to the car to prepare the 2,5 hours trip back home. As all the guests were sitting and warming up inside the car, I saw a suddenly appearing outburst of aurora just in front of us. Called the guests out of the car and there were screaming and emotional moments on the top of memorable pictures.🤣🤣😍😁👍
