Rough winter weather at Domen, Vardø, Scenic Route Varanger. Mount Domen is known from folklore as the place where witches would hold their meetings with Satan. Here we have established a shelter for resting and enjoying the majestic view. From Domen there is a great view of the fiord, the open sea, wildlife along the shore, and the small town of Vardø. The maritime area is world famous for its Arctic birdlife, and from the vantage point on a spring day you can see several hundred thousand seabirds. The windows are pink to prevent birds from flying into the glass.

The Norwegian Scenic Routes and Forlaget Press launched the book earlier this year. It´s the sixth generation of these books since the first one came out in 2006. Since the previous edition (2016), 24 new projects have been included. In addition, the book presents 14 draft projects that will be completed in the next few years. Almost all the pictures in the book are new, which to a great extent makes this book a completely new publication. The texts are in Norwegian, English and German (within the same book). 288 pages.
The book is available through all bookshops in Norway and online, and can be enjoyed both from the sofa and as a guide to a unique travel experience of art, design and nature along the 18 Norwegian Scenic Routes. Today Scenic Route Aurlandsfjellet opened for the season.🙂 From fjord to fjord across a barren mountain noticeably marked by the snow, and with the view of Aurdalsfjorden as the grand finale. Enjoy the new rest area Sluppen, "the sleeping bear" at Vedahaugane, the rest area Flotane and the stunning viewing platform at Stegastein. Now is a great time to drive this road between Lærdalsøyri and Aurlandsvangen.🚗

Steilneset minnested i Vardø er reist til minne om de 91 ofrene som ble dømt for trolldom og brent på bål i Finnmark på 1600-tallet. Kunstneren Louise Bourgeois og arkitekten Peter Zumthor har samarbeidet om å skape emosjonelle rom, en brennende stol og en 125 meter lang minnehall som formidler den sterke historien. Ofrenes skjebne beskrives på 91 plaketter i minnehallen. Tekstene er basert på de gamle rettsprotokollene og er skrevet av professor i historie ved Universitetet i Tromsø, Liv Helene Willumsen.
