The Sognefjord is the lifeblood, indeed the main artery of the villages that lie along the fjord and of the people who live there. The longest fjord is the very reason why these fjord villages exist and that they are located where they are.

The Norwegian author Jon Fosse received the Nobel Prize for Literature in Stockholm today. In the award ceremony, two beautiful pieces of music by the Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg were played.

Jon Fosse grew up in Strandebarm in Hardanger. The nature, the mountains, the fjord and the people in Hardanger have helped shape and inspire Jon Fosse and his work.

The beautiful nature in the area around the Hardangerfjord was also a great inspiration for Edvard Grieg and his work and National Romantic music.

We congratulate Jon Fosse with the greatest award a writer can receive!

The Hardangerfjord area, the orchard of Norway, is known for it´s spectacular fruit tree blossoming in spring. Drive in the Hardanger area and see all the great waterfalls. Hike the famous Trolltu…
