Havnnes Trading post
Havnnes is a well-preserved, listed 19th century trading post, situated in the midst of some of the most stunning scenery in all of Northern Norway.
Forget opening hours and guided tours: Havnnes is no museum but a working community!
Picturesque location: Imagine white houses on a headland, surrounded by forests and framed by the Lyngen Alps. A short ferry ride takes you to this historic gem.
Preserved past: Explore well-preserved buildings, like the main house ("Storgården") from the 1850s and "Jomfruburet" (The Maidens' Bower) dating back to the 1700s. Each structure tells a story.
Living History: Witness Havnnes in action. The general store, operating since 1916, beckons with vintage signs and local goods. Traditional stockfish production continues – you can see the drying racks.
Rich History: Unearth the past with archaeological finds like spear and arrowheads, hinting at a 6,000-year history. Sami culture and later Norwegian settlers shaped the area.
