The sun has returned above the horizon and January offers spectacular light, but few hours of daylight.

We enjoy the nuances she brings as she climbs higher on the horizon every day until May 27th here in Lofoten.

We got plenty of snow already and can’t wait to kick of the ski guiding season in a few weeks.

This season we’ll also be guiding in Kyrgyzstan, and we’re going to Greenland and Svalbard for our annual ski and sail trips in May.

But mostly we’ll be staying at home here in our favorite part of the world, Lofoten. Excited to meet and greet our guests at .

Happy New Year ❄️

Mountain Profile: TORSKMANNEN

Translates to The Cod Man.
In other words, this is a must do mountain in Lofoten.

The views are spectacular and we love to ski here, as well as our other “secret” zones. The drive into Austnesfjorden is also very scenic. Join one of our guides and we will show you.

Torsk is the Norwegian name for Cod and in Lofoten we got the Arctic Cod; Skrei which originates from the Norske word Skride = to travel. The Skrei travels from the Barents Sea to Lofoten for the yearly spawning in the Vestfjord.

Mountain Profile:
SMÅTINDAN

Småtindan or just Tindan by locals are the eye-catching summits visible from Kabelvag and . This is one of the most popular skiing destinations for locals and visitors, and they make a beautiful backdrop for the Lofoten Ski Lodge which is situated just by the foot of the mountains.

The start point from the East is the same for skiers with cross-country skis and ski-touring skis. On your way in you will most likely meet the Norwegian ski culture with toddlers on their first ski tour and elders that are skating pass you.

The skitour up toward the summits are very scenic and possible to do in most conditions. It will bring you to a basin that often holds good snow and with several surrounding summits.

We love this tour since it gives many opportunities and has a beautiful view over Kabelvag.

After a beautiful and dry Fall this year… Winter has arrived in full force on the Lofoten Islands. The skiing was variable today but the views and light were great. Still some ski weeks at the available so get it together and ski with us this season. All the best from Kabelvåg!!

Obs. For locals! We have a persistent weak layer that is active in our snowpack so approach avalanche terrain with caution.
