Purandhara waterfall is situated in the jungle of Purandhara Village-8 at the bank of Babai River. After striking a stream of Kalapani khola from the height of 45 meters, the fall is formed. We can reach there about an hour ride of 29 km to the west from Tulsipur. This place becomes more enticing when dense forests with bird’s chirping sound combine with the sound of the waterfalls.

During the monsoon season, the scenic view astonishes us even more. During this season, most of the local tourists come by to play and bath in water 🙏💚

Efforts are being put to develop Gaurigaun lake based in Tulsipur sub-metropolitan-10 of Dang as a tourism hub. About a year ago, a temple was also constructed in the mid part of the lake to make the area more attractive ♥

Barakune Daha (Nepali: बाह्रकुने दह), Ghorahi sub-metropolitan city - 14, Dang 🇳🇵

According to one the stories some of the cowherds used to build temporary sheds to stay over the place along with their cattle where the lake is now located during the winter season. One day While the cowherds were camping their elderly chief dreamt of an old man suggesting them to leave the place since there was going to be a large lake around the place where they were camping. The chief related the story of his dream to his fellow cowherds and expressed his intention to leave the place. But since the other cowherds, however, were reluctant to accept the fact decided to stay there. The chief took his cattle and shifted to one of the top hills. During the night it suddenly started down pouring with storms. There was a lake the next day exactly like the old man in the dream of the chief’s dream. Nothing was heard about the cowherds and cattle who had decided to stay at the place.

The priests of this temple are still from Magar community. There is a village named and river Sewar by Barah kshetra. In Magar Kham language, a person conducting rituals and worships is called ‘Seware’. The Magar communities of the surrounded have contributed a lot for the care and conduct of the temple since its origination.

Barakune Daha (Nepali: बाह्रकुने दह), Ghorahi sub-metropolitan city - 14, Dang.

Barakune Barah Kshetra is one of the important religious destinations of mid-western region. This daha is called Barakune Daha because it has twelve corners. This is an ancient natural lake. The lake and Barah deity are complimentary to each other. The place has religious as well as natural significance. Though it is quite natural to get the water collected in the area surrounded by hills but there are so many annals related to the origin of this lake.

Jyamire Daha, Ghorahi sub-metropolitan city - 14, Dang 🇳🇵

It is the largest daha of Dang district. It is 1,015 meters long, 40 meters wide and 30 meters deep. The green lush forest surrounds this landmark. The location offers beautiful view of landscapes such as green hills, mountains and the Dang valley. So it is a good spot for photography and shooting the films. There are no hotels so do not forget to pack some foods and drinking water to make your time delicious. The local people are friendly and smiling. The modernization has not touched the rural life in efficient way so it gives the feel of real Nepal.

But due to lack of protection and publicity, it is in a dilemma. Due to the lack of interest from anybody for the promotion and protection of this daha, it has not been possible to attract tourists significantly :(

Bagh Dhunga (Nepali: बाघ ढुङ्गा) is a stone statue which is located in Tulsipur sub-metropolitan city, ward no-14, Dang. It lies along the route to a forest area above the Akami Dwangpur village. The word Bagh (Nepali: refers to the tiger) and Dhunga (Nepali: refers to the stone). Hence it is clear from the name that it's a stone statue of tiger.

In 2016 B.S. when late King Mahendra Bir Bikram Shah planned to visit Tulsipur Dang during his west Nepal visit, there were no motorable roads in Dang at that time. Mahendra Highway was yet to build. Either king had to walk or ride a horse. So, on self contribution, people planned to build a road for his travel. But the two local brothers asked with villagers that they will build the tiger statue instead of digging road for King's welcoming. Then rest of the villagers constructed the roads while the two brothers built this sculpture in about one and half week.

Previously it was a useless big stone lying on the side of a road. During the time of construction, the statue used to make people feel like a real tiger. By the time, the statue lacked the protection faced the natural and artificial injuries. It faced not only the destruction from public but a bullet firing by the armed forces also. But the damage was reasonable than intentional.

While travelling, King ride a horse and used a straight route to go down to Tulsipur. So he didn't see this statue though locals dedicated it to him. But the army came along Bagh Dhunga. On a first glance they felt it as a real tiger and fired a bullet on it. The locals also hit this statue on an anger to the tiger attacking their goats. They believed that Bagh Dhunga is the main reason for getting several attacks from tiger.

The world’s largest trident installed at Ghorahi’s Pandeshwor Mandir has been attracting tourists in droves. The trident, weighing 81 quintal and 13 kilos, was inaugurated on December 14, 2014. Previously, the trident of India’s Pidaraud Temple weighing 27 quintals, was considered the heaviest.

Previously, only locals visited the temple, that too only during festivals like Shivaratri, but today, thanks to the trident, both domestic and international tourists visit the temple.

The temple has now turned into a pilgrimage site for many devotees. Keeping this in mind, a separate pilgrimage house has been built on the temple premises.

This Dharmasala primarily serves as a rest-stop for tourists from across the country as well as those from a number of states in India. The temple having both religious and aesthetic significance is located at the base of the Chure range ❤❤

Hatti Dhunga (Nepali: हात्ती ढुङ्गा) is located in Tulsipur Sub-metropolitan city – 14, Dwangpur. It is about 11-13 km far from Tulsipur Bazaar. The word Hatti (Nepali: हात्ती) refers to an elephant and the Dhunga (Nepali: ढुङ्गा) refers to stone. As the structure looks like an elephant’s leg so locals call it Hatti Dhunga. It is naturally formed landmark.

The stone aka dhunga is on the top of 25 feet tall cylindrical soil pillar and looks like a man’s ge***al as well. The stone is in black color and the soil is in yellow color. The age of this landmark is more than 200 years. While looking from distance it looks like an elephant leg. Locals believe it as one of the energy form and some consider it as the holy Shivalinga. According to the locals Pancha Pandavas (Nepali: पञ्च पाण्डव), the ancient Mahabharata characters of Hindu mythology, once had visited this place. In earlier times the ghost used to live this place.

Since long ago this structure is resisting all the natural adversities like rain, earthquake etc. The devastating earthquake occurred in 2015 AD didn’t make any damage on it. A soil pillar withstanding the massive bus size stone on its top is mysterious to the visitors. But the pillar is getting thinner because of soil erosion. In the surrounding of this giant pillar there are multiple small pillars. Local people call them Dewal (Nepali: देवल). So this natural treasure is not only of religious and historic importance but of archaeological importance too.

The modernization has not touched the rural life in efficient way so it gives the feel of real Nepal💚
