It is hard not to be intrigued by the vibrant prayer flags along the trails and peaks in the Himalayas.

Can Someone Read This Properly And Understand???Any Of The Municipality Member Of Khumbu And Think Properly🙏🙏🙏


Today I saw the press letter from the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality. It is sad that the virus has been transmitted to the community level in Namche. With 9 Covid positive cases confirmed in Khumbu area this morning, it brings lot of speculation on the first carrier of the Virus.

But it is very disappointing that the local government has no way of dealing with the situation. They are yet promoting domestic tourism. ( I am not against it , if it is the right time ).

I can not understand the main reason for local government so keen to promote airlines and business amid such a complicated situation ? Why are they willing to risk so much for so little? Do we have all the needed infrastructure to deal with the virus in such remote location? Are PCR reports reliable? What about the fake reports to enter Khumbu that are now rising concerns?

At the moment, no one knows through which source ; the virus entered the khumbu area .
Was it the first peak climbing group ?
Was it the domestic tourism ?
Was it the passenger traveling from Kathmandu?
Was it the many events that brought lot of people together?

We don’t have adequate information. I personally made inquiry in Pasang Lhamu municipality , we are not prepared if the situation worsens!

Like everyone else I love to go back to work and wishing all the business to resume. I definitely don’t have intentions to spread panic and negativity. I just fear for the venerable community of Khumbu who are
poor and doesn’t have easy access to basic healthcare. We walk 2-3 hours to see a doctor. And only rich can afford to charter a helicopter to Kathmandu in emergency.

So I don’t see the practicality of normal routine until we know how to deal with the virus. Till then it is our duty to keep ourselves and everyone else safe from the virus . And it is biggest responsibility of the local government to work on the safety of the community.
