On June 30th, Nepalese people celebrate "Rice Paddy Day." They commemorate this day by cultivating rice in June, which will be ready to eat after 4 months in the form of rice. In low altitudes, rice grows earlier, about 4 months earlier than in high altitudes. However, in high altitudes, it takes almost double the time compared to lowlands. On the occasion of "Rice Paddy Day," people eat curd and beaten rice with some fruits to celebrate this day. Some work in the fields cultivating rice and then enjoy curd and beaten rice.

Individuals indulge in consuming curd and beaten rice as they are typically engrossed in demanding occupations, lacking ample time to meticulously prepare meals, particularly when engrossed in agricultural labor. Thus, to optimize their productivity while satisfying their hunger pangs, they resort to devouring curd and beaten rice.

Itinerary:

Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (822 m/ 2,696 ft). Duration: 6 - 7 hours.

Day 02: Drive to Phedi (1,130 m/ 3,707 ft) and trek to Pothana (1920 m/ 6,299 ft). 30 m drive and 3 - 4 hours walk

Day 03: Pothana to Forest Camp (2,520 m/ 8,267 ft). 4 - 5 hours walk

Day 04: Forest Camp to Low Camp (2,985 m/ 9,793 ft). and trek to High camp ( 3600m), 6 - 7 Hours walk

Day 05 : High Camp to Base camp (4,500m/14,763ft ) via upper view point and back to Low Camp , 8 - 9 hour walk

Day 06: Low camp to Sidhing Village trek (1700m) and drive to Pokhara, 4 - 5 walk and 2- 3 hours drive

Day 07: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu, 6 - 7 Hours

Dhaap dam is located into the Shivapuri national park which is near to the Kathmandu valley.

If you are looking for the hike around Kathmandu valley and you just want to get experience of walking village, hills and jungles.I suggest you a Chisapani hike which can be done within a day or if you want you can lengthen it for two days.

Itinerary :

Sudarijal (1350m) - Upper Mulkharka (2000m) -2hrs

Upper Mulkharka - Deurali (.2430m) - Chisapani (2200m ) - 3hrs ( stay overnight at Chisapani OR return to to sundarijal via Dhaap dam)

Chisapani - Dhaap dam (. ) - Mulkharka - Sudarijal - 6hrs
