The April 2015 Nepal earthquake (also known as the Gorkha earthquake) killed more than 9,000 people and injured more than 23,000. This strong (7.8 Richter scale ) earthquake hit Nepal in the area of Barpak (earthquake with Gorkha as the epicenter recorded), a mountain village between capital Kathmandu and tourist town Pokhara. The earthquake was followed by many powerful aftershocks and a very powerful one (6.7) hit Nepal on Sunday April 26. It occurred at 11:56 NST on 25 April. It was the worst natural disaster to strike Nepal since the 1934 Nepal–Bihar earthquake. Hundreds of thousands of people were made homeless with entire villages flattened across many districts of the country. A major aftershock occurred on 12 May 2015 at 12:51 NST. More than 200 people were killed and more than 2,500 were injured by this aftershock. There were many aftershock of +4 magnitude with epicenter in Kavre, Sindhupalchowk, Kathmandu and Gorkha districts. There were Centuries-old buildings were damaged at UNESCO World Heritage sites in the Kathmandu Valley, including some at the Kathmandu Durbar Square, the Patan Durbar Square, the Bhaktapur Durbar Square, the Changu Narayan Temple and the Swayambhunath Stupa. Due to the security reason these sites were closed and now a days there is not problem so all of these heritage sites are reopened for visitors. Due to the epicenter in Laprak of Gorkha district in the Manaslu region was ruined and similarly Langtang village of Langtang trek was swallowed by avalanche. There are 75 districts in Nepal among them 15 district are affected around Kathmandu. Treks in Annapurna region , Mustang region, Dolpo region are un touched by this earth quake. We can do lodge trek in Annapurnas and all over other trekking region we can do camping trek even though earthquake damaged some lodges. There is possibility to spend some time in Terai with Jungle safari. Koshi Tappu Wild Life reserve, Chitwan National park and Bardia National park. These places are waiting to welcome you.
Many people are expecting reliefs from other donors. We, Ecology Green Treks has distributed in two places: 1. Solu district: We have distributed rice, blankets, and supporting money to buy materials of roof. 2. Dolakha District: There also we have distributed blankets, rice and salt. We are going to provide some help to the people who are injured by Mega Earthquake and aftershocks.
