As a fluent and native speaker of Nepali, he is also able to interpret for his clients and communicate with other guides on treks to quickly become aware of any changes in conditions such as closed routes, blizzards or avalanches and respond quickly to ensure the safety of his clients. As a guide for a well-regarded local trekking company, Dev regrets that because large trekking companies pay guides less than those employed directly, he currently does not have the income or ability to create a website to promote his services yet. However, his freelancing status means that he is able to offer great prices on treks, better value and lots of fun.
