Nepal Tour Packages FAQs
Q. What is the best time to go for a trek to the Everest Base Camp?
A. If you have been browsing for the best Everest Base Camp trek itinerary, then you should choose from the two significant trekking seasons. The pre-monsoon months of February, March, April and May and the post-monsoon months between late September and December are ideal for a trek to the Everest Base Camp and scaling Kala Phattar. Avoid the harsher months of January and February when the Himalayan winter is at its peak with the temperature plummeting to -30 degree Celsius making it extremely challenging to find your way through the snow-covered trail.

Q. Do the local Nepalese folk speak in English?
A. While the official language of Nepal is Nepali which has its roots in Sanskrit, most people in the city including your lodging staff, shopkeepers and cafe owners can converse in English. However, if you are travelling remotely into the mountains and staying in small villages, you will encounter an array of tongues which are various sub-dialects, but there is little chance that you can get around in English. When looking for Nepal tour packages, ensure you have an English-speaking guide in tow.

Q. Is Nepal a safe country to travel to?
A. Simply go through Nepal travel packages and zero in on the suitable one because Nepal is a safe and a tourist-friendly country for both backpackers and those travelling with their families. A country with low-crime rate, you can easily wander around Nepal, trek its mountains and explore its medieval city,Bhaktapur, and Old Kathmandu and Thamel among other places even if you are a solo traveller. But keep a radar for a travel advisory if any on restrictions to travel to certain areas. Nepal has made a speedy recovery since the earthquake of 2015 and majority of its trekking circuits are open again to mountaineers and trekkers. But be wary of pickpockets and its better to take a local guide with you when you are going into the mountains or are travelling to remote regions.

Q. What should I pack for a holiday to Nepal?
A. Though this would largely depend on the season in which you are travelling, but Nepal in general is a cold country because it is the land of the Himalayas, and other than that a rather conservative society. You are advised to not pack anything too revealing, skimpy or short. For all the walks and the hikes your Nepal trip will entail, a suitcase should have light to medium-weight comfortable cotton clothes, a jacket, woolen cap, sweaters, walking shoes and woollen socks. The warm clothing is particularly necessary if you are visiting between October and February. Keep a scarf, a bandana or a woollen cap handy for gaining entry to religious shrines.

Q. Do I need a visa to travel to Nepal?
A. Indian citizens travelling to Nepal do not need a visa to enter it. Though as per Nepal’s immigration, Indian nationals must possess a passport or any of the documents of the likes of a driving license with your photo on it, a ration card, voter’s card, or any other photo identity card issued by a government agency.

Q. What all places should I visit on my first trip to Nepal?
A. On your first-ever holiday in Nepal, it would be ideal to incorporate Kathmandu, Chitwan National Park and Pokhara in your itinerary which would otherwise include a whole lot of hiking and trekking, rafting and a bunch of adventure activities. For a basic, all-round experience, about 5-10 days are sufficient in Nepal unless of course you are planning a multi-day trek when the length of your trip can go up to 14 days.

Q. Do I need to carry my own sleeping bag for treks in Nepal?
A. Though you can rent a sleeping bag in its capital, Kathmandu, which includes blankets among other gear. But it is ideal if you can bring your own light-weight sleeping bag from home; for it will save you the hassle of renting a good-quality equipment and returning it in mint condition.

Q. What is ‘teahouse’ trekking?
A. This means you will be lodging in a ‘teahouse’, a little mountain lodge or a local hut on every night of your trek. Such lodges are bare-bones and come with a dormitory or a warren of 5-10 rooms with a shared common area where you can eat your meals and catch up with your fellow trekkers. Usually, on teahouse treks the mountain lodges are run by the locals, and can be rented rather economically.

Q. Can I travel to Nepal in the monsoon?
A. The Nepal monsoon lasts between June and August when the country experiences very heavy rainfall for short spells in the day. Rains make the place wet and humid and some of the lower region treks such as those in Langtang, Ghorepani and Ghandruk, muddy and washed-out. Despite that, the monsoon are a good time to visit Nepal since the trails are less-crowded and the skies clearer. The rain-washed stone trails, in fact, become easier for trekking. Also, you can head to the upper reaches of the Everest since they lie in the Himalaya’s rain-shadow region and receive very little rain.

Q. How long do treks last each day?
A. On an average, you would be trekking for about 4-6 hours daily. Usually, a trek begins as early as 08:00 am and winds up between 04:00 pm and 05:00 pm, just around sunset. But the treks are not at all strenuous since you will be making several breaks along the way for tea, lunch among others. Now, the higher you go in the Everest region, smaller will be your trekking hours owing to the risk of picking up altitude sickness if you climb up too fast and for too long.9

With Www.tripholidayinn.com Tourism industry to be provided incentives like the productive sector
KATHMANDU, May 30: The tourism industry, including hotels, will be provided with benefits and incentives like those provided to the productive sector.

The COVID-19 pandemic has crippled the economy of the country and one of the hardest hit sectors is the tourism sector. The government has waived the company renewal fee for COVID-affected businesses such as hotels, travel, trekking, and tourism businesses, public transport and air service, among others, in FY 2021/22.

Presenting the budget estimates on Saturday, Finance MinisterBishnu Poudel said that the government will provide incentives if hotels that are shut due to COVID-19 pandemic are turned into isolation centers.

“The government will reimburse 75 percent of the investment by star hotels for access roads and transmission lines constructed as per their need,” he said, adding, “I have given continuity to the Business Continuity Fund established for the remuneration of the workers and employees working in domestic small, medium and large scale industries, tourism, private educational institutions, transportation, film industry and media houses and for running their businesses.” About Rs 208.8 million has been allocated for the purpose.

The hotel industry along with other productive sectors will also be exempted from electricity demand charges during the prohibition period. Stating that the tourism sector is hard-hit by COVID-19, the government has also decided to levy only 1 percent income tax on hotels, travel, trekking, transport, aviation industry and media.

In order to promote domestic tourism, 10 days paid holiday will be provided to the civil servants, and employees of public institutions and academies. “Employees working in the private sector will also be encouraged for similar packages,” he said.

The government has allowed the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation to materialize a total of Rs 27.47 billion budget for the development and promotion of the tourism and aviation sectors.

From the next fiscal year, an integrated tourism information system including GPS tracking will be implemented for the safety and rescue of tourists going for trekking and mountaineering.

The government plans to promote adventure tourism including mountaineering, bungee jumping, rock climbing, rafting, paragliding, ziplining, kayaking etc. “National and international investors will be attracted to invest in the field of adventure tourism,” Poudel said.

Similarly, agri-tourism, eco-tourism, Himalayan yoga tourism, high altitude sports tourism, educational tourism and conference tourism will be promoted in coordination with the local governments and the private sector. The government has allocated Rs 590 million in order to continue the tourism infrastructure development program implemented in 216 places in collaboration with the provincial and local government.

As per the FY 2021/22 policies and programs of the government, an integrated tourism infrastructure development program will be implemented in collaboration with the private sector for the diversification and expansion of the tourism sector.
