The 'Heritage @ Mallaj' is a 110 years old property perched above Parbat, Beni at 1,205 meters, 2 hours out of Pokhara, now renovated to serve discerning guests. The property was originally constructed in 1904 by Colonel Tej Bahadur Malla, bringing craftsmen and artisans from Kathmandu to bring to life a design of the then famous architects Kumar and Kishor Narsingh Rana. Unfortunately he never go
t to live in the property, as he was posted to Palpa as Bada Hakim as it was being completed. However his wife and children did live here for many years before moving to Kumari, Bhairahawa around 1960. After which the property lay empty and slowly nature started to overpower the creation of man and the property deteriorated and became dilapidated. In 2012, the great grandson of the Colonel, Mukunda Malla, having held a management position in a premier 5 star property in Kathmandu along with heading DHL Nepal as Country Head and being the CEO of SCT, decided to take the bold step of stepping into the heritage of his forefathers and climbing back up to Mallaj to renovate and bring life back to this magnificant property. After over two years of pain-staking effort to retain the best of what his forefathers had created, whilst upgrading the amenities to the needs and expectations of today's travelers, 'The Heritage @ Mallaj' is resurrected and ready to serve! The main building, locally known as the Colonel's Durbar, has five comfortable spacious rooms, each with a fully functional fireplace, a twin set of dining rooms and a 'Mallounge' with TV, Karaoke, Board Games and Card Tables. The building also has modern restroom facilities with hot and cold showers. On the spacious grounds there are eight luxurious tents in the 'Malltent' cluster with their own restrooms and shower facilities. In addition, the property also has a conference hall, that can easily accomodate 20 to 25 people, for those who want to mix a little business with pleasure. The entire property also offers free wifi to keep the guests connected to the world. The cuisine served at the property is also unique. In addition to the delicious Nepali, Indian and Continental Cuisine, the property also bakes its own fresh bread and hot pizzas in its firewood oven, along with maintaining its own organic vegetable garden from which it gets most of its produce. The Heritage @ Mallaj is the perfect place to rejuvinate and re-energize after a trek in the Annapurna region, or from the trek of our normal lives. One of the activities we do at the Heritage - drive our guests to Phalame Danda (2350 mtrs) - almost an hour long uphill drive. Take hot tea/coffee - some bakery items - reach there & wait for the sunrise - it’s beautiful when the first rays of sun hits the tip the 10-12 peaks visible there

5 mins drive from the Heritage - there is a newly built helipad in our neighbourhood. Our guests landed there on 19th April - although, the test landing was done by a army helicopter, our guests arrived on the first commercial flight to land at this helipad.

She probably is one of our most senior guests till now - she is 88 - physically fit & enjoyed sitting outdoors with her family till it was her bed time.

Once again it’s orange season at Baskharka! One of the activities that many of our guest enjoy is the 45 minute hike to Baskharka to walk in the orange orchards and handpick fresh oranges right from the trees. A truly unique and ‘delicious’ experience!

We are greatly honoured to be the official hotel & host stay of delegates of International Parbat Society (अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय पर्वत समाज) 4th Convention which was held on 14 Oct 2023 (असोज २७, २०८०) at Mallaj.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Mr Jhalak K.C (President) and the entire Executive Body of International Parbat Society for deciding to hold the Convention at Mallaj & The Heritage as their official hotel.
Jaljala Goanpalika Mayor Raju Prasad Acharya and his entire team were very instrumental to convince the IPS Board to host their Convention at Mallaj.

If you ask anyone in Nepal, our monsoon season starts in June & ends in August.
After the rainy seasons, one of the best part here is for the guests sit around the fire place till dinner is served. We door at site BBQ & lay dinner outdoors under clear skies.
But with changing global weather pattern - even in mid of October, there is suddenly downpours & we have to serve dinners indoors.
Let’s hope rainy season for this year is over.

Being riders ourselves - both Mahir & me, we understand the needs of our bikers guests - after a tough 5-6 hrs on the road, when you stop for the night halt - all you want is chilled glass of beer, some good finger bite snacks, nice soft music in the background.
Most rewarding feeling is when the guests before their departure say “Thank you so much for wonderful time last evening - so glad our tour company had kept the best at the last”.

One small stretch of the road still needs to be fixed, otherwise more or less the way to The Heritage is fine now.
Big group of Nepali family managed to come on this 26 seater Force Traveller - it’s a very long chassis van but the driver had no problem driving all the way up to The Heritage.

Bikers group from Poland - they all said they had a wonderful time in Nepal - starting from one night at LOD to visit to Muktinath & riding around most remote places in the mountains.
It’s a nice feeling when the guests before getting on their bikes stop & say “Thank you for lovely evening - had a great time”!

We were closed on 5th Oct marking our Dasain Tika & we had given our staffs official leave - due to 3 days of heavy rains, there were multiple road blocks due to landslides on the way to Mustang - the guests had to detoured from their scheduled plans & landed at The Heritage.
Yes, it did take us some time to get things organised & set up but with in half an hour, we did put both fire & TV on so they could enjoy nice warmth - some hot noodle soup too.
Even provided them with some dry clothes so they could be comfortable.
Our guest comfort is our number 1 priority!

Finally after a very long time - didn’t rain at night & clear blue morning skies. Beautiful mountain view and surrounded with green pastures all around.
You can sit on one corner with hot cup of organic coffee, breathe pure fresh air & enjoy natures music of birds chirping & tweeting

It was such a pleasure to meet up & spend some wonderful moments with Raju Karki “The Man & The Mind” behind The CLIFF (Kusma Bungee).
Man of little words but has many great ideas - abundance knowledge of adventure sports & tourism.
The Cliff is not only matter of pride for us at Parbat - but for whole of Gandaki Pradesh.

Most well behaved & multi talented kids of SEOD (Pokhara) - all enjoying warmth of the bonfire & singing their favourite songs. It was great to see that our small effort could bring such big smiles on their small faces.
After BBQ dinner - sat around the fire & enjoyed a nice evening together - lot of singing & dancing around.
All lined up at our parking area.
We have huge area of well maintained lawn - most of our younger guests love to spend lot of their time to make TikTok.
Our young guest Aman requested to stay in a tent - so we all helped him set up his tent.
What is celebration without music & dance - beautiful Mallaj - amazing local band!
On the New Year’s Eve - They all had a late night but next morning everyone was all enthusiastic to start the new day of the new year with a Zumba class - one of the guests happened to be a Zumba Instructor -
Chilly winter night - sitting by the fire - nice music - in company of like minded group of friends - If there is place called heaven - it must be like this
Most surprising - one of the German guest had “Yo Maan Ta Mero Nepali Ho....” on his phone! He was saying “This band is good & have already been to Germany 2 times” It was such a nice feeling that a German tourist knew the song - one of his favourite songs!

Traditional local band of these hills playing - like most parts of the country - children of these band members are all abroad working - they are unable to learn how to play those instruments from their seniors - if this trend continues- soon we will be able enjoy these local tunes on speakers from pen drive - so sad!
