This is the ancient palace of kapilvastu state where royal family used to live. Lord Guatama Buddha stayed here for 29 years. At the time of Buddha 's Birth his father Suddodhan was the king of Country. After Suddhodan Mahanama was elected as the king of country. Prince Siddhartha was born at Lumbini Garden in 623-24 BC and was brought back to the city of Kapilvastu. He lost his mother only after
seven days of his birth and was brought up by his step mother Prajapati Gautami. Seeing an old man, a sick man, a dead person and a sage, Prince Siddhartha was so much disgusted with the worldly life that he left his home town at the age of 29, when his was quite young. He had gone out of the city by the eastern gate. After great meditation Siddhartha attained the sambodhi and became one of the most reverred philosopher sage of his time. It was only because of Lord Buddha, Kapilvastu and Shakya clan became well known to the world. Kapilvastu city is situated near the sala forest and on the bank of Bhagirathi ( Banaganga) river. The excavations conducted during 2023-20 BS by Department of Aecheology, Nepal. The excavations carried out in Tilaurakot brought to light defence walls, the western gateway watchman's room, brick platforms, Blacksmith's workshops, the stupas pottery and several. The antiquities found from Tilaurakot excavations are very rich in quality as well as in quantity. Antiquities are Terracota Human figurines, Mauryan Figurines, Sunga Figurines, Kushan figurines, Animal Figurines, Beads, Bangies, Coins , stone objects, Metal objects, seals and sealings. Antiquities are in demonstration in Kapilvastu Museum, lies at 200M distance from Tilaurakot.
