As we head toward the Khumbu region, it's so pleasing to see these mani walls, the inscripted walls radiating the positive aure and as a statement of the community residing. Buddhism is the major religion in the Khumbu Valley as Sherpa people highly follows the path of Buddha. These stones are hand scripted by Sherpa people in early times before tourism prospered and even few decades back too. As the tourism has given Khumbu a new look, and provided people with ample opportunities the culture of making mani walls somehow is paused due to various reason. Having said that isn't it a monumental moment to witness this big rock scripted by hand?
PS: Always do the clockwise when passing by the mani walls.

The majestic Kusum Khangkaru as seen from Kongde during sunset. 🏔
Kusum Khangkaru is one of the peaks belonging to Mahalangur sub range of the Nepalese Himalayas. The name “Kusum Khangkaru” means “Three Snow White Gods” according to Sherpa Language which is refered to the triple summit of the mountain. The mountain falls under 6 thousanders, measuring the height of 6370 m.
The main north-south ridge of Kusum Khangkaru forms the border between the Dudh Khosi to the west and the Hinku Valley to the east. The mountain is the main source of the Kusum Khola (or Thado Koshi Khola) which flows westward to merge into the Dudh Khosi at the village of Thado Koshi. Kusum Kanguru is one of the first high snowy mountains that is seen when trekking from touward Mount Everest base camp.

Lasting five days, it's a festival that honors different elements of nature, with each day dedicated to different rituals and celebrations. The festival involves worshiping various animals and elements, including crows, dogs, cows, and goddess Laxmi. Light and colorful decorations, including lamps and rangoli, adorn homes and streets, creating a vibrant and joyous atmosphere.

Melting glaciers, Wake-up Call. ⏰
As scientists have discovered that, due to global warming, the Khumbu glacier and many others in the Himalayas are undergoing rapid melting. These melting glaciers are wake-up call to make certain framework regarding carrying capacity of the area regardless of the revenue that tourism generates or contributes to the nation if the tourism policy makers actually cares about the sustainability.
Accourding to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Nepal Tourism Decade (2023-2032) aims to increase the number of tourist visiting to 3.5 million, and increasing their daily expenditure from $125 from the existing $48 expanding the employment opportunities, which will make tourism sector's contribution to national GDP to 10 percent.
With Nepal being still under developed country focusing on economical vision makes alot sense but having said that as main attractions of Tourism are very prone area. In the contrary I believe the policy makers really need to work on the environmental sector to with certain rules and restrictions for the preserved environment to the next generation of tourist that has yet to visit Nepal.
What's your thoughts on this matter? 💭

As we soar above the mighty trails leading to the Everest Basecamp, one of the raising concern that we witnessed, and shall not be overlooked by the local government of the Khumbu area is the shelter for the porters. In the latest trip of mine, I was told by our porters that the shelters of porters is so over the limit that they get 1 blanket for 3 of them. Now imagine 1 blanket for 3 people at the temperature as low as -11° Celsius. Thinking of this I wanted to share thoughts and wanted to hold accountable to people who is concerned.
Life in himalaya can get as dreamy as heaven, but people working on the background is living it tough.
Appreciating those who have chosen the tough side to make the dream come true of so many people. Besides the tough work being their source to livelihood, they also love the job, so many emotions are connected within a trek, they aspire to assist the people they aspire to grow the industry. They're the underdogs of trekking industry in Nepal.
Everest region, no.1 bucketing destination to many of travellers around the world relies on these hardworking porters for the service to be provided as human courier. Hope the concerned authorities provides some of their thoughts in such area too. For the house to be built the foundation must be strong, and in my opinion porters are one of the key foundation of trekking industry. And to the normal like us, my fellow travelling friends let's be kind to them, let's not hesitate to give them side, to give them priority while walking.
Thank-you.

The last settlement of Everest Basecamp Trek!
Gorakshep, located on the elevation of 5164m. is a destination to high numbers of trekkers each season catering to their needs and sometimes even overflowing. The limited numbers of hotel makes it hard to get the accommodation at suchlike places, so if you're planning to visit Everest Basecamp, make sure to trek with travel agency for better arrangements and higher safety.

Everest as seen from Kalapathar. 🏔
Kalapathar is the only perfect landmark for the glory of Everest to be seen. It's located on the southridge of Pumori at 5644m elevation. The standard hour for walking upto the Kalapathar is 1.5 to 2hrs approximate. The climb to Kalapathar is tough yet the beauty that prevails on the top, 360° panoramic view of mountains makes it worth a while. The Kalapathar hike is included in most of standard Everest Basecamp Trek itinerary.
Going back to what Kalapathar means: Kalapathar is a word derived from Indian language meaning Black Rock. While heading from Gorakshep to Kalapathar, once the sandy trails ends the rocky path starts to begin. At that moment you can significantly notices the rocks around are in colour of black.
So when are you making your visit to Kalapathar?

The lukla diary 📝
Lukla village(2860m.) is a gateway to many trekking areas, such as Everest Basecamp Trek, Three high passes, Tashi Lapcha Pass, Kongde Trek, Gokyo valley Trek and many beautiful Sherpa villages to encounter. The name lukla comes from Sherpa word which means place where sheep and shepherd resides. The village now has no more sheep, it rather has a little bit of countryside vibe, and little bit of city, as it's one of the oldest settlement of Khumbu with the rise of Tourism. One of the most prominent famous airport, Tenzing Hillary Airport considering to be one of the most dangerous airport worldwide also is in the village. The airport was one of early development project of Sir Edmund Hillary thus named after him and Sir Tenzing Norgay.
