Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Sakyamuni Buddha and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a haven of calm and a must-see for Buddhist devotees and peace seekers from all over the world. Because Lord Sakyamuni Buddha was born here in 623 BC and proclaimed the worldwide message of peace and compassion, it is considered one of the holiest sites for Buddhists. Buddhist pilgrims, peace activists, and ordinary tourists come to Lumbini to pay tribute to Lord Sakyamuni Buddha and to observe the holiness and shrines associated with Lord Sakyamuni Buddha, Buddhism, and peace.
