Our Everest Base Camp Short Trek is a thrilling, tough, and amazing Himalayan trek from Lukla to Kala Patthar a steady climb from 2800m/9187 ft to 5545m/18193ft. the trail takes you through the valley of Dudh Koshi river to the Sagarmatha National Park and finally to the base of Mt. Everest following the footsteps of Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa.
Everest Base Camp Short Trek is a classic trekking route of the country. Traversing through rural mountain terrains, dense woodlands, high Himalayan pasture lands, raging rivers, and various ancient settlements. Along this ancient trading route.
Overview:
From Kathmandu domestic airport, take an exciting mountain flight to Lukla. A mountain settlement and your starting point of the trek. From Lukla head towards upper Phakding. Next, following the Dudh Koshi valley climb up to the Sherpa capital of Namche. From Namche, trek along a high traversing path where you’ll get your first good views of the mighty Everest. Later then head towards Tengboche Monastery.
An ancient Monastery of the region, explore the monastery and attend to the rituals conducted by monks. The monastery sits at 3867 meters surrounded by dwarf conifers and rhododendrons woodlands. The monastery is structurally located on a ridge top with commanding views of the Everest landscape.
Next, descend to the Imja Khola and continue your trek to the villages of Pangboche and Pheriche before approaching the moraine of Khumbu Glacier. Following the glacier, you’ll reach Lobuche, and the next day ascends uphill to Gorakshep and towards Everest Base Camp. From Everest Base Camp witness breathtaking views of endless snowy mountains, lakes, and glaciers. After a brief tour of Everest head back to Gorakshep.
Climbing onto the grassy ridge of Gorakshep, head towards the iconic vantage point of Kala Patthar at an elevation of 5545 meters. The highest point of your trek. As you traverse this terrain be cautious and take frequent rest. Once you reach the summit witness endless rows of mountains and high mountain terrains.
Retrace your steps back to Pheriche then to Namche Bazar and follow the Dudh Koshi river down to Lukla. From Lukla catch a flight to Kathmandu soaring high with the world’s highest mountains. Join in with us at The Alpine Club of Himalayas and be a part of this thrilling trek.
This trek is particularly strenuous, and the itinerary doesn’t have acclimatization days. So, this Everest Base Camp Trek is designed for those who have good physical and mental fitness with little trekking experience and have a limited time frame.
