Autumn

Since most crops are planted in the spring season and allowed to grow during the summer months, autumn is the time when crops are finally ready to be harvested. Harvest season spans from late September to early December and is a busy time among farmers.

Champadevi and Chandragiri Hills are both nearby hills with elevations of 2,278 metres and 2,551 metres, respectively. These hills are an excellent and fascinating hiking destination in Kathmandu Valley.

Both hills have been significant historical and pilgrimage sites in addition to being the best locations to observe the Himalayan range and the lush woods around the Kathmandu valley.

As we ascend, more and more of the scenery opens up, giving us the fascinating backdrops of mountain ranges and enormous curves dunes. Awe-inspiring views of mountains including Shankar, Dorje Lakpa, and Langtang Lirung can be seen from the peak. You can see the entire range, from Dhaulagiri, the seventh-highest mountain in the world, to Everest, if the weather is good.

Beding is a settlement located in the Rolwaling valley of the Dolakha area, at the base of mountains.

This village boasts the largest number of climbers to the summit of Everest and many unsung tales of mountain legends.

Sharing arms with the 11-time Everest climber and Legend of Beding Mr. Nawang Sakgey Lama.

Our mainstream media don't dare to go there to expose their hardships; instead, they often showcase the beauty of the mountain regions.

Through the haze and snow there lies many untold stories and as the plot unfolds, you gradually realize that all your initial assumptions were wrong.

Yalung Ri peak 5630m
(Rolwaling Valley)

The base camp can be set at 4750 metres. From the base camp to the top, it takes about 4 hours of journey time.

You have two choices after reaching the summit: either go back the way you came, or go to Tso Rolpa to cross the Tashi Lapcha pass. At 5755m, Tashi Lapcha is one of the highest and trickiest passes to traverse. As you go farther, you can continue your trip via Thengpo and drop to Namche Bazar. You may enjoy the spectacular Himalaya, lovely flora, warm hospitality, and pure nature.

Interesting facts
Pikas do not hibernate so they generally spend time during the summer collecting and storing food for the winter. Each rock-dwelling pika stores its own “haypile” of dried vegetation, whilst burrowing species often share food stores with their burrow mates.

Hi,
I'm a young yak from the village of Na. I'm both a little scared and excited today. Unknown humans have interfered with our small pasture. The devils who have come to the summit of our goddess (Mount Yalung ri) are currently posing for pictures with my father and mother, Yak and Nyak.

I had been wondering for a while why this rugged man has been starring at me as if he has known me forever and what that object on his right hand?

I'm not sure if these mushrooms are edible, but their beautiful colours compelled me to try them.

My intuition gave me a big no, so perhaps that's why I'm still here to write about it or possibly I lost the opportunity to connect with nature.

First Snowboard Descent of Everest
September 8,2002

Marco Siffredi was a French snowboarder who gained fame for his snowboarding exploits on Mount Everest. In 2001, Siffredi became the first person to successfully snowboard down the Hornbein Couloir on the north face of Mount Everest, which is one of the most difficult and dangerous snowboarding runs in the world.

Siffredi returned to Everest in 2002 with the goal of snowboarding down the mountain's southeast ridge. However, he encountered bad weather and was forced to turn back. Siffredi decided to make another attempt in 2002, but tragically, he disappeared during his second attempt and was presumed dead.

Despite the dangers and challenges involved, Siffredi remains a legendary figure in the snowboarding community for his pioneering spirit and his feats on Mount Everest.

Mount Machapuchre, also known as Fishtail Mountain, is a prominent mountain peak located in the Annapurna Himalayas of Nepal.

With an elevation of 6,993 meters (22,943 feet), Machapuchre is considered one of the most beautiful and distinctive peaks in the Himalayas. Its name, which means "Fish Tail" in Nepali, comes from its twin peaks that resemble the tail of a fish.

Machapuchre is considered a sacred mountain by the local people, and climbing to the summit is strictly prohibited. The first attempt to climb Machapuchre was made in 1957 by a British team, but they were unsuccessful. Since then, the mountain has been largely untouched by climbers, and it remains one of the few unclimbed peaks in the world.

Icefall Doctor

The job of an icefall doctor is considered one of the most dangerous professions in the world, as they must work in extreme weather conditions and at high altitudes, often risking their lives to ensure the safety of other climbers. Despite the risks, many Sherpas choose this profession because it offers them an opportunity to earn a living and support their families.

They are responsible for constructing and maintaining the climbing routes on these mountains, which can include ladders, ropes, and other safety equipment necessary for climbers to traverse the dangerous and unstable terrain.

However, the installation of fixed ropes on Everest has also been the subject of controversy, as some critics argue that it takes away from the challenge and danger of climbing the mountain.

Mount Kanchenjunga,

is the third highest mountain in the world with an elevation of 8,586 meters (28,169 feet). It is located on the border between Nepal and India, in the eastern part of the Himalayan range.

The name Kanchenjunga means "Five Treasures of Snow," which refers to the five peaks of the mountain. The main summit, which is the highest point, is located on the border between Nepal and India, while four subsidiary peaks are located entirely within Nepal.

The first successful ascent of Kanchenjunga was made in 1955 by a British expedition led by Charles Evans and Joe Brown. Since then, there have been several successful ascents of the mountain, but it remains a challenging and dangerous climb due to its remote location and unpredictable weather conditions.

Annapurna I (8091m)

The 1950 Annapurna expedition was the first successful ascent of an 8,000-meter peak, and was led by Maurice Herzog, a French climber. The team was composed of French climbers, including Louis Lachenal, Lionel Terray, and Gaston Rébuffat.

The team faced many challenges during the expedition, including difficult weather conditions, high-altitude sickness, and the unknown terrain of the Himalayas. Despite these obstacles, the team managed to establish a series of high-altitude camps and make their way to the summit of Annapurna on June 3, 1950.

The successful ascent of Annapurna was a major milestone in the history of mountaineering and represented a significant achievement for the French climbing community. The expedition was also notable for the extensive use of new and innovative techniques, such as the use of aluminum equipment and nylon ropes.

However, the expedition also had its share of controversies, including disputes between team members and criticism of Herzog's leadership style. In addition, Herzog and Lachenal both suffered severe frostbite during the ascent, which resulted in the amputation of several fingers and toes.

Despite these challenges, the 1950 Annapurna expedition remains a significant moment in the history of mountaineering and demonstrated the potential for climbers to reach the world's highest peaks. It also helped to establish the reputation of the French as leaders in the field of high-altitude mountaineering.

After a series of setbacks and challenges, including the deaths of two team members in a climbing accident, the team finally succeeded in reaching the summit on May 29, 1953. The successful climbers were Sir Edmund Hillary of New Zealand and Tenzing Norgay, a Sherpa from Nepal.

The successful ascent of Everest by the 1953 expedition marked a major milestone in the history of mountaineering and captured the world's attention. It also helped to establish the reputation of the British as leaders in the field of high-altitude mountaineering.

The 1953 expedition was notable not only for its success but also for the extensive planning and preparation that went into the expedition. The team employed a variety of new and innovative techniques, such as the use of oxygen tanks, to help overcome the challenges of climbing at high altitudes.

The successful ascent of Everest by the 1953 expedition sparked a surge of interest in mountaineering and exploration, and has since become one of the most iconic and celebrated moments in the history of adventure sports.

George Mallory and Sandy Andrew Irvine: Hidden treasures of Mount Everest

George Mallory was an English mountaineer who is best known for his attempts to reach the summit of Mount Everest in the early 20th century. Born in 1886, Mallory began climbing as a young man and quickly established himself as one of the leading climbers of his generation. In 1921, he was part of a British expedition to explore the Himalayas and attempt to climb Everest, but the team was forced to turn back due to bad weather.

Mallory returned to Everest in 1922 as part of a larger British expedition. While attempting to climb the mountain, he and his climbing partner, Edward Norton, made it to an altitude of 8,230 meters (27,000 feet), but had to turn back due to high winds and dangerous conditions.

Undeterred, Mallory returned to Everest for a third time in 1924 as part of another British expedition. He and his climbing partner, Andrew Irvine, set out to make a final push for the summit on June 8, 1924. However, the two climbers never returned, and it is not known whether they successfully reached the summit or not.

Mallory's body was discovered on Everest in 1999, and it is now believed that he may have been the first person to successfully reach the summit of Everest, more than 29 years before Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay achieved the feat in 1953. However, this remains a matter of speculation and debate among mountaineering experts.

हेलम्बुको बजारमा माया बस्यो कान्छीको मुहारमा

December 16, 2022

It was a beautiful evening, when we reached our first destination Melamchi Gyang in Helambu region. The color of sky was red and gradually the sun was slipping behind the snow-covered mountains. We walked all day, following the paths that went up and down, much like the locals did. Once you enter Helambu, there are a lot of fascinating things to see and do as a tourist. It was a little bit exhausting to walk the distance we did after getting off the tour bus. Thanks to the fresh air, the raging Melamchi River's sound, and the beautiful panoramic view of the natural scenery.
As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by the lodge keeper Pemba Didi. I highly recommend staying at Yangrima loudge if you visit Melamchi Gyang at any time. With Pemba Didi's adorable smile and sincerity, you will experience the nicest hospitality there. At Melamchi Gyang, we laid our exhausted back and satisfied feet for two nights. We visited Dopu Ningda Rangden cave, which is regarded as the meditation spot of Great Guru Padmasambhava, Dakini cave, Neljhor, and Prangjhang during our stay at Melamchi Gyang as part of a cultural tour.

17th December 2022
Resting after travelling about 45 minutes by foot from the closest village, Melamchi Gyang, to Prangjhang. Pema, the adorable girl from the same roof where we stayed was amazingly our main guide. The boys Mukesh and Prakash are brothers who we met on the way to Prangjhang. I was really happy as I accompanied in these young folk’s footsteps.

18th December 2022
After saying our final goodbyes with heavy hearts in Melamchi Gyang, we proceeded on to Tarke Gyang, another settlement. Leaving Pemba Didi and her adorable daughter Pema behind was heartbreaking, but the wonderful company of Funjho Dai made our trip to Tarke Gyang easier and more comfortable. This time, we follow to Funjho Dai's guidance and are constrained by his lovely love story.

19th December 2022
At Tarke Gyang hotel and lodge, it was 3:45 in the morning. After the thrilling Argentina victory over France in the 2022 FIFA World Cup final, I had just gotten inside the blanket. We all soon started getting ready for the early-morning trek up to Ama Yangri summit. We had to climb up at a height of 3771 meters, so that morning was a little difficult. We climbed to the summit of the Ama Yangri with the hopes of catching a view of the majestic sunrise.

20th December 2022
We started our journey to the last stop on our cultural tour after ascending Ama Yangri peak in the early morning. Sermathang is a small but lovely village. From Tarke Gyang, it took us 3 hours to walk continuously until we were in Sermathang. Temba Dai was at the village entrance gate to greet us as soon as we arrived. The warmth and compassion of the locals is not surprising.

21st December 2022

We were divided into seven different community homestay houses in Sermathang, totaling 17 people. Aji and Adda's home was where I spent the night and where I had the tastiest meal of my life, in my memory. The phrase "home away from home" sounds wonderful. I immediately felt at home as soon as I stepped into the Aji and Adda's house because of the warmth of their love and caring. That evening, everyone in the community gathered to celebrate our accomplishments by accepting us as part of their culture and with their affection. To the song's beat and the steps of the locals, we all dance together.

When we step beyond of our comfort zones, what was previously unknown territory and frightening becomes our new normal. You can make friends everywhere in the world. Travel, according to some, broadens the mind and exposes a person to fresh, diverse cultures and experiences. If you step out and see new locations, this will undoubtedly become reality. The way of life in Helambu was something unique for us to explore. We learned life is truly simple and lovely if we embrace nature and take pleasure in what little we have
