📍Photos that I took while trekking through the Himalaya in Nepal.
I’m going on one of my favorite outdoor podcasts next month, which I’m pretty psyched about. They asked me to think about some of my more memorable trips. This solo trek that I took around the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal immediately came to mind.
It was pretty surreal to hike through the highest mountain range on the planet. There were stretches on the trail where I was alone with nothing but the mountains and my thoughts.
I also met some great people from all over the world, and we ended up hiking a lot of the trail together. One of the highlights was climbing over the 17,769 foot Thorong La Pass.
I carried a paperback copy of Peter Matthiessen’s The Snow Leopard with me to read in the tea houses at night. I found it the other day, and had highlighted this line, which kind of summed up the trip for me:
“Twelve years before, on a visit to Nepal, I had seen those astonishing snow peaks to the north; to close that distance, to go step by step across the greatest range on earth…was a true pilgrimage, a journey of the heart.”

Serious Issue and effect of Climate Change: Did you hear " यसपाली पोहोर भन्दा बढी जाडो छ ! " from your elders this year? Most probably No.
This is a picture of snowless Machhapuchhre from last year. This year also there is less snowfall in mountain regions as we have reached almost half of January. Let's hope better policies are brought to save our mountains and climate cycle.
