Thinking of a trip to BALI?

Tania just came back from a 9 day trip to Bali with her family and bursting with excitement for this destination. Please see below some of her tips:

- Apply for your visa and fill out health declaration and customs form online prior to departure. This will save a lot of time on arrival. Please see below the links to the online forms:

- Arrange your arrival transfer in advance: Denpasar Airport can be very overwhelming on arrival and seeing a friendly face of a personal driver holding a sign with your name on it takes away any anxiety you might have.
- For your first visit I would recommend at least a 2 week trip staying at 2 or 3 different locations. Bali is such a diverse country with many experiences on offer. From beautiful beaches to bustling markets to serene rice plantations and breathtaking volcanoes. Aim to spend some time on the beach and some time in Ubud to make your trip diverse and exciting.

- Bali is not a big island, but traffic can be very busy and getting from place to place can take a long time. If you need to transfer from one location to another, why not make it an adventure and hire a driver for a day. Balinese people are so friendly and proud of their island and love showing it to tourists. We have a list of reliable drivers we can recommend.

- For shorter trips, download Gojek App. It is similar to Uber and you can also order takeaways through it, which is fantastic if you are staying in a villa.

- To avoid cash scams, use WISE card. It is easy to top up and readily accepted everywhere.

🌍✈️ Planning a UK holiday in 2025? 🇬🇧

From 8 January 2025, New Zealand passport holders heading to the UK visa-free will need to complete an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before they fly. This will be mandatory for all New Zealanders and in addition to any further visa's you may require. I.e. working visa.

🗓️ Passport holders will be able to apply for an ETA from today, 27 November 2024! So you can get ahead of the game and tick this off your travel checklist.

Nicci just came back from a family trip to Phuket and shares her insights with us!

We had a wonderful family holiday in Phuket over the school holidays. Highly recommend Katathani Resort – it is huge with around 6 pools, 5 restaurants and on a good swimming beach – also less hustle and bustle than other areas of Phuket. It is the perfect location for relaxing! However not as many options to dine outside the resort in this area, but a short Tuktuk ride over the hill to Kata Beach with a lot more options – one restaurant we loved in Kata is the small family run eightfold - https://www.facebook.com/eightfo8d/.

Also, Phuket is fabulous for exploring the surrounding islands such as Phi Phi – we chose a kayaking tour of the limestone islands around Phang Nga Bay.

Our absolute highlight was the 2 day jungle safari at Elephant Hills – this is a sustainable elephant rescue staying in luxury tents in the middle of the jungle, so unique and SO worth visiting if you ever get the chance!

Though we can’t travel out of Auckland at the moment, it doesn’t mean that we can’t plan a little adventure!
Grab your family and do the Auckland Coast to Coast walk.
It is a great way to get a little exercise and discover more about the history and unique features of Auckland. Plus you'll be able to tell your friends that you walked from one side of New Zealand to the other!
Begin in the city centre on the shores of the Waitemata Harbour, before crossing bustling downtown and turning inland to Albert Park and the university.
From here, head to the 200-acre Auckland Domain and then onto the summit of Maunga-whau (Mount Eden), where you'll enjoy views into the crater and out across the city, harbour and Hauraki Gulf.
Then it's on through historic suburbs to the volcanic cone of Maungakiekie (One Tree Hill) before following ancient lava flows through the Onehunga suburb, finishing at Manukau Harbour.
The whole walk is 16 kms long and will take you approx. 4 -5 hours to complete. If you feel like it might be just a bit too much for you to do in one go, you can divide it into 3 walks over 3 days. There are also regular public bus services back to the city.
