Willowbank Wildlife Reserve has a huge array of beautiful animals such as the Capuchin Monkey.

Considered to be one of the smartest monkey types, they spend most of their waking hours searching for food, urinating to mark their territory, and hanging out in trees.

Willowbank's animals are divided into three different sections.

- Farmyard
- New Zealand
- Zoo/Exotic

They’re also open every day from 9:30am – 5pm.

The Morepork, also called the Ruru, is a small brown owl found throughout mainland New Zealand forests and offshore islands.

Often heard in the forest at dusk and throughout the night, the morepork is known for its haunting, melancholic call.

These rare birds can be hard to spot in the wild, luckily Willowbank Wildlife Reserve has a sanctuary where you can see them.

The International Antarctic Centre is the only place in Christchurch you're guaranteed to see Little Blue Penguins.

The Korora (or Little Blue Penguin) is New Zealand’s smallest penguin, and in our expert opinion, it’s the cutest. Whether scuttling over rocks or diving for food, these incredible birds are small in stature but big on entertaining.

Each day at 10:30am and 3pm, it’s feeding time.

Did you know Christchurch Adventure Park has 2 FREE walking trails?

One of them is a loop trail (45 minutes) through the forest that is suitable for young children.
Along this walk, you will see native birds, flora, mountain bikers and zipliners.

The other is a more challenging uphill trail (1.5 hrs return) that will take you to the top of the chairlift.
Once you get to the top, you may take the chairlift back down for FREE if you don’t feel like walking.
The views alone are worth the walk, they span from Lake Ellsmere to the Kaikoura Ranges!

And…… the best part is, both these trails are only 15 minutes from the centre of town!

So put on your walking shoes, get out of the house and enjoy the Park!
