New Delhi is not not 'new' at all. It's wide avenues are built around and on top of a graveyard of cities that have risen and fallen over time.
Within 'New Delhi' is Humayun's Tomb, one of India's many UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Build in the 16th Century it was Asia's very first garden tomb and laid the blue print those that came after, including the Taj Mahal.
Like the Taj Mahal it is a testament of love built by a Queen for her beloved husband Humayun, the 2nd Mughal Emperor of India.
When compared to the Taj, it is subtly elegant, it's walls dressed in red sandstone with motifs picked out in white and black marble.
On the India: Fabric, Food & Fabulous Tour, we step inside its walls and gardens to bring to life the fascinating lives of these early Mughals. You will also learn more about the tomb's role in India's more recent history.
