I absolutely loved this image taken in NZ. I decided to split it in two when I was editing it and saw a natural gap between the main series of birds and the second group of birds at the far right.

In editing it for the awards, I also decided to change the sky and add a texture I photographed.

It originally scored a Bronze, but got talked up to a Silver, which I was pleased about.

I entered 4 images in the landscape open awards, and all 4 picked up an award.

This image was taken late July 23, when I took the camera to one of the beaches near where we live, where I experimented with ICM photography and intentional camera movement.

NZIPP AWARDS

In the 1980s, I picked up a camera for the first time after working in a studio for a few years without being a photographer. I became interested in photography after attending numerous conferences and watching the NZIPP awards being judged live. It made me want to pick up the camera and enter, and I have been doing so ever since and still enjoy watching and entering.
