🛑 Cordless GHDs Can’t Fly 🛑

A caution to those with the ghd cordless hair straighteners—you can no longer fly ex New Zealand with these.

Due to a change in AvSec guidelines the cordless ghds are no longer permitted in carry-on or checked baggage because they do not have a travel mode.

However, for those with the Dyson cordless version—you are still all good to pop these in your carry-on bag as they do have a ‘flight mode’.

The friendly folk as AvSec are being as accommodating as possible—& travellers may be able to pick up their straighteners on their return to New Zealand.

The increase in wait time can be put down to both seasonal demand and upgrades being done to the passport system.

After a long separation for so many, we have many clients travelling to reunite this month. Unfortunately due to weather in the Northern Hemisphere, strikes and staff shortages we are experiencing a high volume of flight cancellations worldwide. We have had to prioritise rebooking these clients which is taking considerable time. If you are awaiting a reply from an email/text/WhatsApp/messenger please be advised that unless it is urgent we won’t be in touch until after xmas.

Thank you and wishing you all a Merry Xmas.
Let’s hope travelling in 2023 runs a lot smoother!

Changes to the New Zealand Traveller Declaration
From Thursday 20 October 2022, passengers arriving into New Zealand no longer need to complete the New Zealand Traveller Declaration (NZTD) to enter New Zealand - great news!

Currently, all air travellers must complete the NZTD and passengers arriving today and tomorrow will still require an NZTD to enter.

: Heathrow Airport in London is capping the number of departing passengers it can process daily to 100,000. The restriction is causing delays and cancellations to international flights travelling to and from the airport.

The restriction on passenger numbers is expected to last until at least 11 September 2022.

Heathrow is capping passenger numbers for the summer and telling airlines to stop selling tickets to quell travel chaos.

🛑 AUCKLAND: AVOID TAKING THE CAR 🛑

The number of car parks at Auckland Airport is limited and the airport company is urging travellers departing during the school holidays—who don’t already have a car park booked—to consider alternative modes of transport.

The airport company is reporting unprecedented parking bookings. Demand for AKL’s Park & Ride facility this month is up 87% on Jul 2019 and AKL says no on-line doemstic/international car park bookings are expected to be available until 24 Jul. AKL’s valet bookings are also temporarily closed.

“With limited availability we are encouraging people to please consider alternative forms of transport to the airport, such as a taxi, rideshare or SkyDrive bus, which operates to and from the Auckland CBD,” says AKL Airport’s Scott Tasker. “Or, travellers can take advantage of half price public transport fares to take the train-bus connection via Puhinui Station and AirportLink.”

*️⃣Customers with existing carparking bookings will be catered for.

*️⃣Pick-up/drop-off areas will continue to run as normal.

*️⃣Mobility Parking Permit holders can still access the mobility valet service operating from the international terminal.

*️⃣Meeters and farewellers requiring short-stay parking at the international and domestic terminals will still be accommodated.
