It was so nice to welcome our cruise ship visitors into the Abel Tasman for a day π a boat ride up to Awaroa Lodge for lunch, a guided walk through regenerating native forests, and that feeling of sand between your toes π It was all too much for some of the group and we just had to go for a swim π
We had these two wonderful people do one of our 4 Day All The Way trips (the whole Abel Tasman Coastal track over 4 days) π thank you for the amazing photos, feedback & booking with AT Guides πππ
If you are ever on one of our trips that explore the northern section of the track (north of TΕtaranui where there isn't any water taxi access) you'll be greeted by these two special human beings. The super grans!! Both locals with extensive knowledge & passion for the area π we hear they sometimes start the day with a boogie in the kitchen to Santana!! π₯³π₯³π₯³
It was awesome to have Linda & Lorraine join one of our guides for day in the park π today's plan was - Split Apple rock boat tour, Pitt Head Loop track, then Anchorage back to MΔrahau π we started in the rain and finished in the sunshine π§π¦βοΈ a total of 17kms (23,705 steps) ππ great job ladies you did awesomely π
It was AWESOME to be out in the park on a guided trip with this AMAZING family from Holland π We water taxied to Anchorage, did Pitt Head Loop, before meandering back to MΔrahau. We did a Pete's Natural taste test at Apple Tree Bay π₯€ and finished off with some Dutch Syrup Waffles - yum!! πππ
We've added a new vehicle to our fleet π it's a full electric car that we've named Evie (BYD Atto 3) π this fits in perfectly with our ethos to continue to strive to keep reducing our emissions and walk a little more lightly on the planet and helps with our carbon zero certification as well π it will be used to pick up small groups and for driver relocations as well as a staff vehicle π welcome to the whΔnau Evie!! π₯°
Last week our two new team members Ruby (reservations) and Maisie (MΔrahau operations) got out to walk the track in our guests shoes. The Abel Tasman delivered with stunning weather, gorgeous beaches, beautiful bush and playful seals at s**g harbour to boot! Great to have you both on board π
Wow π still stunning, still amazing and no matter how many times we go into the park - it always delivers!! Here's our team checking out Awaroa and making sure the accommodations here are gearing up for a busy summer season π
It was lovely to have these two join us for a winter Abel Tasman tripπ in winter we base ourselves in MΔrahau, venturing out into the park each day to walk a section of the track πΆββοΈπΆ winter means very few people around and really calm often windless days and sometimes with a backdrop of snowy hilltops π»βοΈ It was also super exciting to hear of a marriage proposal while out on the track - congratulations!!! It was a pleasure being a (very) small part of this and sharing in the celebration ππ
Have a look at this amazing collage created by a recent guest π the pic of the s**g (cormorant) is really cool π thank you Safra & Anna!!
We loved sharing this special place with these guys!! Thank you for the amazing photos!! πππ
We had this amazing wee hiker come and do the track with us!! π₯°Harry is just 4 years old and when he wasn't running the track, he was taking a quick rest on mum's shoulder - before running the track again!! π€£ Race - rest - race - rest, I don't think we've ever seen anyone do the track like this. Jessie his mum left us with this quote "One of the best things I've done! Thank you all so much." Which makes what we do feel so good!! π Thanks for joining us Jessie & Harry!!!
We sent our founder/co-owner Wally along to this event. We are so proud as a company to be a part of the MΔrahau Pledge, and can't wait to see the changes it will bring to making MΔrahau an even more beautiful place!! Thanks Wally!! π If you'd like to learn more about the MΔrahau Pledge - check out the website here https://www.marahaupledge.nz/ ππ
Ever want to spend New Year's eve in the Abel Tasman park? π₯³ We've just had a cancellation on one of our best selling trips - our 3 Day Classic Trip starting on the 30th December and finishing on the 1st January π€© This is for a group of 2 people (twin/double room) $999 per person- and, you'll be welcoming in the NY at the wonderful Awaroa Lodge π email us now to secure your spot!! [email protected]
How about this for a mother-son bonding trip!! π€ Denny & Connor from the UK aced their walk, walking the whole track over 5 days and fitting in a day's kayaking as well π special mention to Connor for early season swimming (brrr!! π ) & walking one section Anchorage to MΔrahau in the pouring rain in 2 hours!! Thanks for the great shots!! ππ
Welcome back Lucy!!πThank you for the lovely comments & fantastic photos below!! Special mention to our kayak provider Josh at Awaroa Sea Kayaks - look seals so close!! π€ "I absolutely 100% recommend booking through this company for all your Abel Tasman needs. I was travelling solo and felt apprehensive about doing a multi day hike on my own, and after contacting them they sorted everything out for me with such ease! With the weather, some parts of the track were closed and they made alternative arrangements so I could still experience the track. I also booked a kayak day tour through them, and had the most unique experience of seal pups coming close and playing around my kayak. The team are genuinely so lovely and I felt very cared for and safe being a young solo female traveller! Thank you so much to the team."
Look at these great shots taken by Kevin & Marisa who walked the track with us recently π Early season means you get the whole beach to yourselves on some days, treated like a VIP at all our accommodation partners and your own personal water taxi!! π€© Thanks for the great shots - we love them π You might be able to spot our new ATG staff member Klara in some of the photos as we sent her out to walk the track. Welcome to the ATG team ππ
We are super proud to be part of the MΔrahau Pledge that is being launched today!!!πWhat a fantastic way to protect, restore & enhance this special little village for generations to comeπ Check out the video and let me know what you thinkππ
Another tricky start to the season but with some clever innovations and use of water taxis, nothing will stop us showing off this stunning part of NZ!!! π Not even a bit a rain π¦and some slips left over from that heavy rain β we had lots of 5 to 6 weeks ago (we'll water taxi you around them - so, you can carry on). We loved having the Maria Roe group of 6 ladies do a trip with us - thank you for running with the amendments and continuing on with your trip ππ Please note that track repairs are in full swing and the track will be restored back to it's original (if not better) state soon π
A couple of white faced herons and a royal spoonbill hanging out together at low tide. There were also a couple of oystercatchers but they didnβt want to be in the photo!
Look who we saw today, doing a little fishing!
Ever seen a white basket fungus? Voted second favourite fungus in NZ ( Landcare Research) and there are lots in the park right now!
With such a tough year in the tourism industry it's nice to get some of our groups out walking this stunning track π some of our groups have met with date changes, lodge closures, vaccine mandates, covid out in the community & amended itineraries - but, they have persevered and they have arrived - THANK YOU ππ₯° We received this lovely comment from a recent group. This spurs us on and keeps up motivated!! ππ
We loved showing this group our little slice of paradise here in the Abel Tasman π even a little rain on day 1 couldn't dampen their spirits!! Here's Cathy and her team in action on the track (thanks for sending these through!!) and the lovely comments π₯°π"We had a fantastic experience, glad we waited awhile initially , then the sun finally came out and improved along the way. Hana was a delight at Anchorage, we loved her company and sheβs a great asset to your company .We will definitely recommend your services and expertise to others considering venturing to this gorgeous part of our country" πππ
Sun's out and our trips are in full swing!! ππ our comfort camping trips are always popular, with all the hard work done for you - just walk into camp and let our camp guides look after you!! π₯° they're great hosts, great cooks & love to share their knowledge of the area with you π we've had some lovely groups through in the last couple of days and the weather has been simply stunning!! What are you waiting for?!?! π€£
What happens when you get a quiet start to the season, a promenade covered in weeds in the Marahau village and a bunch of enthusiastic Abel Tasman Guides waiting for Auckland to open up? π Well - then, it's weeding time of course!! ππ Here they are in action, making Marahau (the launchpad to the Abel Tasman Park) even nicer by pulling weeds π thank you to those that stopped and helped us out, or just stopped for a chat, it was lovely to be doing something out in the community today ππ Aotearoa - we are ready for you!! πππ
It's that time of year again where we start our "comfort camping" trips in the Abel Tasman π let our guides take care of everything, as you meander along the track - stopping to take photos, swim and relax on some of the stunning beaches ππ these are all inclusive trips where you walk with just a day pack, and we boat around your overnight bags. We reckon this is one of the best ways to experience this great walk π
A big thank you to Anh, Lan, Isabelle & Victoria for sharing their Abel Tasman experience with us. We love to hear back from groups post trip ππ We love the big smiling faces in the rain!! π "Dear Chris, Wally, Craig and Jenny, Thank you very much for your care and excellent support. We had a fantastic time walking the beautiful track, appreciating the wonderful environment, meeting old friends, Mike and Birgit at Awaroa Glamping, enjoying the comfort nights and delicious dinners and learning the history of Abel Tasman National Park. We have been praising about the walk and your service so hopefully, you will be kept busier and busier, Here are some shots I took along the way" π
Abel Tasman Guides is feeling super proud to announce that we have been certified a Zero Carbon business operator by Ekos ππ Director Wally has been working hard with Ekos over the last few months to measure our carbon footprint and set-up a programme to offset this. By investing in KΔnuka Forest β Uruwhenua Native Regeneration Project in MΕhua (Golden Bay) we have done this and the continual journey to walk more lightly on the planet just took a big jump in the right direction. Thank you Kathy at Ekos for making this happen!! ππ
