Marion and I are near the end of our 2nd day of 3 in Hawke's Bay. A region which excells with chardonnays as well as Bordeaux & Rhone - style reds. This afternoon we discovered another red worth seeking out - tannat. The good news is that once you have driven 14 kms to Sherenden up the Napier - Taihape Road to buy a bottle of the ' de la terre ' Grande Reserve Tannat, your whole experience there and the drive too, you'll want to rave about, to all your friends. The 4 of us shared a superb platter and great pizzas cooked in the wood-fired pizza oven, which was hand made by co-owner and winemaker,Tony Pritchard.
