We have spaces available on the 11am Wildlife Island Tour around the Sugarloaf Islands tomorrow 17th October 2024.
We will have a fun trip, learn all about our NZ Fur Seals, local Māori history, see some interesting sights and enjoy our precious coastline.

We will be taking an Island Tour tomorrow at 1pm for all who are wanting to see the Islands close up and visit the NZ Fur Seals! We would need to see you by 12:45pm to fit life jackets etc and would need a total of at least 6 adults on the trip ! Cheers, Tony.

We had a great group of people join our beach clean this morning. These are a few. We picked up lots of rubbish off the shoreline, even this black chair that some loser had thrown on the rocks!! This year Conservation Week in Taranaki will launch with a synchronised beach clean on Sunday, August 13. This event has been organised by the Department of Conservation, with Support from Wild for Taranaki. We are taking part and you can too! Sunday Aug 13th at 11am at Chaddy’s Charters! Be there! Operation clean up at Chaddy’s Charters after the big storms we’ve had over the past few weeks. A bit of TLC and love needed for our trust old Rescue III and her boat ramp. Question is…. How many men does it take do useful stuff?? 😂

gosh kids are demanding! - a little bit of penguin-in-the-boat-shed antics from last night. The fluffier one is the baby, due to leave the nest sometime this week. The other one has been out all day catching food to fatten baby up. It will be getting chipped so we can see if he comes back next year. whether it decides to nest in the boat shed is another matter!

Stingray hanging out on our ramp this morning. Did you know they can grow up to 6.5ft, weight 3/4 tonne, Odysseus (Greek god) was killed by a stingray, their venomous tail is lethal to humans (RIP Steve Irwin) and their biggest enemy is the Orca (often cone into the port to round them up and have a feast!) Chaddy used to feed the stingrays and so they were a common feature down here but when his wife started swimming everyday he stopped. We occasionally chuck the odd Kahawhai carcass out on the ramp but don’t actively feed them so it’s pretty special when they come say hi. #oceanlife #onyourdoorstep #stingray #loveyourenemy
