As all eyes turn to the climate summit kicking off this weekend, we’re thrilled to announce that UK in New Zealand has partnered with Beam, to raise awareness of reducing carbon emissions caused by fossil-fuelled travel. 🌱

Over the coming months, we'll be encouraging Kiwis from all walks of life to make the switch to climate-friendly, e-mobility alternatives.

Beam has been proudly Certified Climate Neutral since 2019, but today we’re proud to go one step further for the climate, pledging to be Carbon Negative by 2025. This means we are committed to go beyond net zero carbon emissions, to actually remove additional CO2 from the atmosphere.

Today is World Car Free Day. We didn't make that up. It really is.

So what better time to consider dumping those little drives that add to the congestion and emissions in our city, and take a little ride on a Beam instead.

Here's a few facts to ponder...

According to a 2016 study by the US Department of Energy, the average car weighs just under 1860 kgs —23 times more than the person it carries. So most of the car’s energy is used to move the vehicle itself.

In contrast, our little Beams weigh just 23 kgs and run off an efficient electric motor charged with energy created from certified sustainable sources. We're also the only e-mobility operator in Australia and New Zealand that is Climate Neutral Certified.

Marked with a yellow rocket symbol on the map, these are the special places where ‘Boosts’ are available - a discount for a nearby store. As soon as you park there, you’ll be able to redeem the offer (a Boost!) within 60 minutes.

We call it Operation Booster.⠀

Easy, affordable, safe and sustainable, the Beam Saturn+ e-scooter is officially here Wellington 🙌

To celebrate we’re offering FREE first rides! Simply complete the short 2-minute Beam Safety Quiz in the app to unlock 10 minutes of free ride time.
⠀⠀
Take a look at the map in the app for locations of where you can park and where you can ride. Scooters are available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
⠀⠀
And rest assured, we are taking additional measures to ensure the safety of you, our riders, during Alert Level 2. Our comprehensive cleaning program includes the regular sanitisation of high contact surfaces such as the handlebar, brake levers and helmet with a hospital-grade disinfectant. We also actively remind riders to maintain a social distance of at least 1.5 metres and to wash your hands after every trip.

We will continue to monitor the situation in line with Ministry of Health advice and will update you on any possible changes to our operations and services.
