In the vast deserts of Turkmenistan, there’s a sight so surreal it looks like something out of a sci-fi film—a giant crater of fire burning non-stop for over 50 years.

⛽ The Darvaza Gas Crater, better known as the “Door to Hell,” is one of the most mind-blowing (and slightly eerie) places on Earth. It was accidentally created in the 1970s when a gas drilling operation went wrong. Scientists set it on fire, thinking it would burn out in a few weeks… but it’s still raging to this day.

🔥 Standing at the edge of the crater at night is something else. The flames dance, the heat radiates, and the sky glows in an otherworldly orange. It’s one of those “I can’t believe I’m actually here” moments that only travel can give you.
