Spring flora & fauna.
The Mt Cook giant buttercups (not actually lilys as once thought) are out in force this time of year. The famous Russell lupins are also on display. Although they are a w**d they still make a pretty spectacular sight. 😍

Get your pre-Xmas getaway booked - not many nights left in November & December, the best time to see these gorgeous blooms. 🌼

Another winter is done at Manuka Retreat. Some spectacular hoar frosts in June & some beautiful clear skies in the Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve. 🌌 Spring is here & bookings are filling up. Off the beaten track, the Ahuriri Conservation Park (about 20km south of Omarama) borders the Waitaki Geopark. The old glacial valley has terraced rivers, fishing, hiking, cycling & 4WD tracks. These pics are from the track below Ben Avon peak. A great spot if you want to avoid the busier tracks in the Mackenzie region at peak times. 🌄🦌

Summer has arrived! 🌤

We're so glad to welcome so many people to stay at Manuka Retreat - Twizel over the summer holidays! So much to do this time of year, especially if you love the water and walks. The Ho**er Valley track is spectacular at any time of the year, and is one of the 'must do' walks in NZ. ☀️🗻

Lupin time! November & December are the best months to see the lupin bloom. These pretty pests can be found around all the lakes, fields & lining the hydro canals in the Mackenzie region making a lovely contrast against the glacial blue lakes. 😍
