🌟🎉 BREAKING NEWS: Immigration New Zealand announces significant changes to Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) ! 🎉🌟

Exciting updates are coming to the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) process throughout 2025, designed to address skill shortages and support New Zealand employers. Here's a quick summary:

Key Changes:

🚫 Removal of the Median Wage Threshold:

Wage thresholds for AEWV roles will be removed, but employers must still offer market rates based on the role and location.

💰 New Earning Threshold for Bringing Children:

Migrants earning at least NZ$55,844/year can bring their children, subject to meeting additional criteria.

📉 Reduced Experience Requirement for AEWV applicants:

The experience requirement for AEWV applicants will reduce from 3 years to 2 years.

🌍 New Pathways for Seasonal Workers (from November 2025):

3-year multi-entry visa for experienced seasonal workers.
7-month single-entry visa for lesser-skilled workers.

📜 Longer Visa Duration for ANZSCO Level 4/5 Roles:

AEWVs for Level 4 or 5 jobs will now last 3 years, up from the previous 2 years + 1 optional year.

✅ Amended Work and Income Requirement:

Employers must declare they’ve advertised jobs with Work and Income and interviewed suitable candidates—removing the 21-day timeframe requirement.

🛠️ Extended Interim Visa Work Rights (from April 2025):

AEWV applicants transitioning from other work or student visas will have extended interim work rights.

📖 Simplified Employer Accreditation:

Completing Employment NZ online modules will no longer be mandatory for accredited employers or Recognised Seasonal Employers (RSEs).

🏗️ Lower Domestic Workforce Threshold for Construction Roles:

The threshold for hiring migrant workers in certain construction roles will decrease from 35% to 15%.

⏱️ Re-designing the Job Check Process (from July 2025):
Improvements to streamline Job Checks for low-risk employers will roll out to improve processing times.

📅 Implementation Timeline:
The changes will be implemented in four stages throughout 2025, starting in January and concluding in November.

🎊 These updates aim to make the AEWV process more efficient while addressing skill shortages in key industries.

**Important Update from Immigration NZ**

Starting today, June 26, 2024:

🚫 People with an Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) in jobs classified at levels 4 and 5 by the Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO) can no longer support visa applications for their partners and dependent children.

💼 What does this mean?

Partners and dependent children can still apply for their own visas, like an Accredited Employer Work Visa or an international student visa, if they meet the requirements.

✅ No change for:

- People who already have visas as a partner or dependent child.
- AEWV holders in ANZSCO level 4 and 5 roles with a pathway to residency (e.g., Green List, sector agreements with residence pathways).
- AEWV holders earning at least 1.5 times the median wage for the Skilled Migrant Category.

📝 Applications in Progress:

Current applications for partners or dependent children will be processed according to the rules in place when they applied.

If you have questions, please contact us for more info.
