What’s behind these doors in Essaouira?
The doors are old and weathered and charming. They all tell a story.
Known for its strong winds, kite surfers gravitate to Essaouira. Camel caravans traverse the beach. Life unfolds within the Medina. Trading is done and cars roam free. Spices beckon and meat hangs high. Wagons are laden with mint and basil and sacks are bursting with nuts. Covered ladies carry baskets of goodies homeward. And behind those doors life gently goes on. Every now and then someone pops out in a flowing djabela. Or someone disappears behind the faded facade, leaving the bustling Medina behind.

We leave Casablanca and take a 2 hour road trip of enlightenment and amusement to Oualidia on the Atlantic coast. Rural pastures surround us - surprisingly green and often luscious despite drought and thanks to a dose of recent rain. Shambolic yet charming buildings, many neglected. Farmers at work in the old-fashioned way. Mosque towers rising here and there. Ramshackle huts and bright blue homes. Donkeys and cattle and sheep. And colourful washing blowing in the breeze. And then … a beautiful lagoon in the seaside holiday town of Oualidia where we indulge in seafood (fish, oysters, crab, calimari, anchovies …), a cold local brew and a stunning view. A morning packed full of so much more than we imagined!

South Australia - more than you expect! I recently led a tour here for Pukekohe Travel - based in Adelaide we flew by private charter flight to Coober Pedy, Kangaroo Island and Port Lincoln. We explored the Adelaide HIlls and the Barossa Valley. We fell in love with Adelaide - such a well-planned city that works. Heritage buildings protected and a fantastic food scene. Here's a glimpse of our week seeing the "Best of South Australia".

Who's missing travelling?
I know I am! Let's go - January, February or March 2021. ✈
I'm planning to take a group on a cruise within New Zealand waters. Imagine it, visiting Fiordland, Stewart Island, the Snare Islands and other NZ ports.
All New Zealanders are welcome: you can be a couple or single, or a group of friends - and you won't be too young or too old to join in. It's about having fun on the water as a unique group.
Brand new itineraries are being released early October for cruising early 2021. No single supplements for those who get in quick! The small cruise ship will have all of the luxuries you would expect of a top-end cruise line. You'll love it! Cabins will sell out quickly.
As soon as I get word of these special itineraries (I'll be among the first to know!) I'll post details here. I'll also be planning land stay and activities - if you book promptly I may be able to include in the itinerary the places you're keen to see and the things you want to do.
