Ladies and Gentlemen, friends and family of Team Running On Empty,

It is with deep sadness that we inform you we will not be taking part in the 2020 Mongol Rally, for obvious reasons!

Our travelling souls are shattered like most people around the world at the moment but we are so grateful that we are at home, healthy and safe and we hope you are too.

Planning this epic journey has become impossible, with visa applications, travel insurance, fundraising and of course, extremely uncertain times around the world. Simon and Nick have lost their jobs and our amazing Nurse Ola is back in Canada putting her own wellbeing on hold, fighting the disease on the front line which is pretty bloody special!

Thank you all so much for the support and love you have shown us so far, the donations to our charity, the sponsorships, the messages and intrest in our project. It seriously means the world to us!

BUT OUR DREAM IS NOT OVER! Check this out,
We have entered into the Mongol Rally 2021!! Will we be able to take part? In these life changing times, we have no idea what our circumstances will be next year BUT if we do, this gives us so much more time to prepare, and with this time we feel we will come back bigger and better! Please stay with us online and as we come together again later this year, we can not do this without you. The intense preperation and funds that goes into planning a trip like this means nothing without the support of you lovely people, our friends and family. We cant wait to share everything with you leading up to and during this amazing journey that will hopefully be the Mongol Rally 2021!! We are already frothing over this..

Ohhh its busy here! Intense planning goes into a massive multi-continent expedition such as the Mongol Rally! Here, you can see the ROE team working hard back at HQ, getting together important details of the trip such as: entry dates into various countries, visas, team sponsors, charity fundraising and many many other crucial steps to get the team on the road, the list is currently endless!

Team Running On Empty coming together for the first time last week! We are driving a tiny car 20000km from the United Kingdom to Mongolia starting in July to raise serious funds for our charity, I am Hope. Why are we taking on this epic adventure?? To lower this incredibly sad number of young people thinking there is no other choice here in Aotearoa New Zealand! Raising funds for our charity I AM HOPE to provide FREE counselling for our youth who need it, all while spreading love and laughter on our travels. Kia Ora, Hello and welcome to the team!
OUR MASSIVE ANNOUNCEMENT - Ola, Simon and Nick are taking on the Mongol Rally 2020!!

Our names are Ola, Simon and Nick from Canada and New Zealand. Together, we are “Team Running on Empty”. A name we chose together in which we think represents our cause quite well, also how we will probably be feeling most days! With nothing more than a few blankets, some peanuts, number 8 wire and a never say die attitude we are planning to drive a totally inappropriate car, no more than 1000cc, unsupported nearly 20,000 km across 3 desserts, 5 mountain ranges and nearly 20 countries!

The Mongol Rally is about getting lost for charity. Culturally, geographically and mentally LOST and escaping from the pressures of society, while spreading some love and happiness around the world!

We have been so lucky to meet thousands of amazing people on the road and around the world over the last few years and today we reach out to you because WE NEED YOUR GENEROUS SUPPORT! We’re trying to raise $20,000 ($1 per KM we travel) and bring awareness towards our amazing charity we have chosen to support for this epic adventure. Please share this far and wide!!

I AM HOPE, a life saving charity massively helping New Zealand youth with mental health by promoting positive attitudinal societal change in schools and communities up and down the country, and funding private care and counselling for young people stuck-in-the-mud on waiting lists.
