Tongariro Northern Circuit is located in Tongariro National Park, New Zealand, and is one of the country's premier Great Walks, known for its well-structured and easily navigable trails. From late October to April, Tongariro Northern Circuit is an excellent choice for exploring the volcanic heartland of the Tongariro region, offering contrasting views of vivid glaciers and alpine scenery.
However, from May to late October, Tongariro Northern Circuit experiences cold, damp, snowy weather conditions. Avalanche risks and shorter daylight hours pose risks to hikers during this time. Therefore, if venturing out during this period, it's crucial to carry navigation tools and ensure you possess ample alpine hiking skills.
