Hubbub is a collective of creative technologists: Martin Hill, Braeden Foster and Reuben Poharama. Technology meets creativity. Ideas become physical.

Art is interactive. Hubbub is a creative arts company that specialises in innovative technologies and interactive public art experiences. Our projects have been featured at the Semi Permanent 2015 design conference, Auckland Arts Festival and Splore Festival. We came together in 2013 over an idea to create art that is not just seen, but manipulated by the viewer. What if the audience could no long

er be a passive observant? What if the very presence of an audience changed the way the art behaved? These questions formed the basis of our first project "Finding Under Noise". The audience was able to impact the work through the incorporation of intermediate students' work that influenced what the stop motion animation would look like and sound like. We also produced an interactive digital art piece that premiered at Digital Art Live. From there, we continued to be intrigued by how an artwork could interact with the viewer. We developed the understanding that interactivity requires the work to change state with the actions of the audience which, in turn, changes the state of the audience. This understanding underpins every work that we develop. From projections to playgrounds, small scale to large, events to exhibitions, we aim to inspire the audience to create and explore.

Our interactive sculpture, Arco, spent some time in front of a camera yesterday. We can't show you the video yet but just know that it looks awesome! We hooked up a couple of minim MIDI controllers from Livid Instruments to control Arco and some other light effects which you'll also see in the video. (You probably won't see us though) 🎥🎬🎛️🎚️🎹
