Welcome to another Flightie Friday! ✈️

Today our Global Performance Marketing Specialist is sharing the details of her week long trip to South Korea 🇰🇷

🇰🇷 What were the highlights of your trip?

I had so many trip highlights for only a week, we had a jam-packed schedule (but that's the way to do it).
1) Visiting the DMZ and seeing North Korea, going down into the Infiltration Tunnels also, it was such a surreal experience.
2) Wearing tradition Hanbok and visiting Bukchon Hanok Village
3) Day trip to Nami Island & a Rail Bike Park - such stunning scenery and out of the city for the day. The colours of the leaves at that time of year were gorgeous.
4) I love books and reading, so a visit to the famous Starfield Library was a must, a bit of a trek to get to via train but so worth it. Such a gorgeous Library.

🇰🇷 If you were to go back what else would you do?

I would visit more places out of Seoul! Would love to visit Busan and also go to some other regions in Seoul like Gangnam which we didn't get to. Also just extra time for spa/beauty treatments as they are so famous over there and we didn't leave enough time for a famous Korean head spa!

🇰🇷 Any tips for first-time travellers to this destination?

Get out of the city! I absolutey loved the day trip to Nami Island and the Gangchon Rail Park. We also stayed in Hongdae which was such a perfect location - great nightlife and vibe, but another popular area to stay in (where the night markets are) is Myeongdong - best for foodies!

Welcome to Flightie Friday! ⛱️

Today our Global Performance Specialist is sharing the details of her Europe trip including a 7-night Sail Croatia Contiki trip, as well as time in London, Barcelona, Morocco and the Amalfi Coast.

⛵ What were the highlights of your trip?
The Amalfi Coast was probably the most beautiful place I have ever seen. We hired a moped for a day and drove from Positano to Amalfi and it was easily the highlight of the trip overall. In Croatia, spending our days lying in the sun on the roof of the boat with our new friends and unreal views was so special. Morocco highlight was camping under the stars in the Sahara Desert, and meeting the locals who are so hospitable, kind and hilarous.

⛵ If you were to go back what else would you do?
Spend more time in Fes! It is so underrated. Do another boat trip around Croatia but take it slower to enjoy everything the islands have to offer. And in Amalfi Coast just spend wayy more time there to experience its hidden gems.

⛵ Any tips for first-time travellers to this destination?
Hire a driver in Morocco if you want to see sites outside of the city. They'll take care of you and show you the coolest things off the beaten track. Amalfi Coast - if you are staying in Positano and you want to save a bit of money, visit Amalfi where food and souvenirs were about 50% cheaper. Croatia Contiki? It's a marathon, not a sprint.

The Shanghai Maglev line connects Pudong airport with Longyang Road station in the city centre. 🚅

It has a maximum speed of around 430km/h and can complete the 30-kilometre journey in seven and a half minutes. 😳

Based on German technology, the Maglev trains are propelled along an elevated track by magnets rather than conventional steel wheels on rails.

Other high-speed trains around the world:

👉 TGV – 320km/h (France)
👉 JR East E5 – 320km/h (Japan)

Welcome to another Flightie Friday ✈️

Today our Marketing Automation Executive Mackenzie will be sharing the details of her 14 day Central Europe Highlights Topdeck Tour!

🥐 What were the highlights of your trip?
We visited 7 countries on the tour but my favourite place was definitely Amsterdam! The canals throughout the city were stunning, the buildings were beautiful and the overall vibe was so cool. The locals ride bikes everywhere and it is their main form of transport. We took a bike tour around the city and it was definitely the best way to see everything. A close second favourite was Paris. We visited 2 days prior to the 2024 Summer Olympics so the city was bustling and full of life. Seeing the Eiffel Tower in person and realising just how big it was was definitely a highlight. Special shoutout to Switzerland as well - every photo taken looked like it was straight out of a movie!

🥐 If you were to go back what else would you do?
If I could go back I would definitely extend a few weeks either before or after the tour to sneak in all the destinations that we weren't able to visit. The tour was awesome to see the highlights, but if you want a few more days in any of the stops, or other places not included in the itinerary, it's definitely worth going back and doing your own thing!

🥐 Any tips for first-time travellers to this destination?
If you're a first time traveller on a tour, my biggest tip is to do all of the extra inclusions that Topdeck offers. There are some really cool optional that you can choose from which can enrich your experience in each of the destinations. My other tip is to make friends and enjoy it. If you're solo travelling, a tour is an awesome way to meet people that are also solo travelling and find buddies to experience it with!
