Time to get ready for summer by breaking out the Lucas Creek NZ roof tent. Parked up next to the beautiful Rakaia River for the night. Easy to erect and strike. A warm and comfortable night with our two furry friends. We learned a few tricks and can hardly wait for next time!!

OUTDOOR and 4WD OPPORTUNITY. May 5-8.

On Sunday 5th May (after night shift sleep) a group of us are planning to 4WD into the Hurunui No.3 hut for hut painting and hut repairs with BCT. We may need to re-cut some of the old 4WD track and are looking for at least one other 4WD vehicle to join us for safety and recovery.

Others who want to join us can come along too. All we ask is you volunteer some of your time to the cause with a bit of painting and tidying. Then you could bring a boom-stick for a spot of hunting or simply walk out back towards Lake Sumner or over Noti Hurunui. Lots of opportunities.

If the weather turns bad we may not be able to drive all the way in and the walk is about 3 hours.

Another hut in the area is the Hurunui hut which we worked on last month too. An easy walk there.

If the weather turns really bad we will try for May 13-16.

Check out the handsome dude in the DOC hut photo!!

Ask questions here or message me direct if you prefer.

This is a standard 16-bunk hut in the North Canterbury and Arthur's Pass area. Historically, the hut is an example of early Government involvement in recreation and tourism in the area.

Ever had a dilemma getting transport from one end of the track to the other? This might be the answer for you....

From: trail sharing
Trail Sharing Platform

Kia Ora,

I have developed a website, trailsharing.com, which aims to reduce the cost and logistical barriers for trampers, trail runners and mountain bikers completing one-way trails. It provides a secure means for users to plan, connect and exchange their vehicles with another party so both can drive to their respective trailheads before walking or cycling back to their own vehicles.

As a club frequently using such trails I wanted to ensure you and your members were aware of our service. There is no charge for using the platform and I believe it is a great new way to allow more people to get out and enjoy the often difficult to access trails outside of organised club events.

I have included trails from all around the country but I want to work with community led groups such as yourself to find out what trails would be most beneficial to include. If you have any through trails from your area which you would like added, please let me know so I can continue to grow this service.

Regards,
Ben
