I'm just so stoked to say that last night at the Tourism Export Council 2022 Awards Night, Trips & Tramps won the category - 'Innovation of Visitor Experience'.

Trips and Tramps is owned by my brother Steve and his wife Kate. When Covid struck, it was brutal for them working in tourism, way down in Fiordland.

With a business that relied heavily on international tourists, they really had their backs to the wall. And so they designed their 'Great Walks Package' - targeting NZ tourists who were now out exploring their own back-yard.

On the Great Walks Package you get to hike 3 parts of 3 of our great walks, in 3 days. (Kepler, Routeburn, Milford). Not only is is an incredible experience, it was hugely successful - and this award is a credit to their innovation, determination and how they designed a product that had huge benefit not only to them, but the wider Te Anau community.

Super proud. And if you plan on a trip to Fiordland, you know where to go.

Back in 2019 we hosted 'Pure Pursuits' - a gathering of global thought leaders of experiential travel. We did this under our brother-brand, 34°South (which is a little irrelevant right now) and along with introducing New Zealand to some world class travel designers, it connected us with some very special people.

I feel it was right up there with one of the best experiences we have delivered (God knows how many hours we spent on it...)

It connected people with place, and I look back upon this with a lot of pride, and I know Carlene and Mike and Tom and Luke and the rest of the team do too.

Our last event for 2021 was close to home, over on the South Wairarapa coast. We had a beaut weather day and shared 'Serving Up Tora' with the Regional Managers / Managers of NZ Scaffolding Group. It was a terrific day out for them, and for our mates at Tora Collective and us at OneNineFive.

Not too far from OneNineFive HQ is a very special place called Tora, on the rugged and beautiful South Wairarapa coast.

With our friends from The Tora Collective, we designed a one day group experience - 'Serving Up Tora'.

It's a sleeves rolled up experience, full of ocean aromas, drift wood fires, delicious local wines, the (very) freshest kaimoana, and an insight into an inspirational business that truely cares about our oceans.

It's an experience to relax into, where you can share good conversations and connect with the people around you.

Massive congratulations to Paul Norris, General Manager of Real Journeys, who last week received his MNZM for services to the tourism industry and conservation.

Paul is a hard working, dedicated and humble guy and it's been terrific to see his work in Fiordland and Southland recognised in this way.

Congratulations also to the Leadership team at Real Journeys and Wayfare Group, who played a massive part in Pauls career and are a company who deliver exceptional experiences and deeply care about the stunning south west corner of New Zealand.
